This position is responsible for providing high-quality instruction, monitoring student progress, and ensuring compliance with ALE requirements while supporting students in an online learning environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong instructional practices, flexibility, and the ability to build meaningful relationships with students and families in a virtual and blended setting.Hoquiam School District PillarsMeaningful RelationshipsBuild and maintain positive, supportive relationships with students and families in a virtual and blended learning environmentCommunicate regularly and effectively regarding student progress, engagement, and supportsFoster a safe, inclusive, and respectful online classroom communityCollaborate with administration, counselors, and support staff to meet individual student needsEngaged LearnersProvide high-quality, standards-aligned instruction to secondary students in an online formatDeliver timely, specific, and actionable feedback on assignments and assessmentsSupport student engagement through differentiated instruction and personalized learning strategiesMonitor student progress and intervene as needed to promote academic success and course completionAdaptive PathwaysSupport students in goal setting, time management, and ownership of their learningUtilize online learning platforms (e.g., Odysseyware, Edgenuity) to provide flexible instructional pathwaysDevelop, implement, and monitor Written Student Learning Plans (WSLPs) in alignment with ALE requirementsAdapt instruction and supports to meet diverse learning needs and ensure equitable access to educationCommunity ConnectionsPartner with families to support student learning and progress in the ALE environmentMaintain consistent communication with stakeholders to ensure transparency and collaborationPromote awareness and understanding of the Homelink ALE program within the school communityUphold district values and contribute positively to the broader educational communityEssential ResponsibilitiesProvide direct instruction and academic support to secondary students in an online formatMonitor student progress and ensure timely feedback on assignments and assessmentsMaintain accurate and compliant ALE documentation, including Written Student Learning Plans and monthly progress reviewsCommunicate regularly with students, families, and staff regarding academic progress and engagementCollaborate with administration and support staff to ensure student successSupport students in goal setting, time management, and course completionMaintain compliance with district policies, state ALE regulations, and program expectationsRequired QualificationsValid Washington State teaching certificateEndorsement in Secondary EducationDemonstrated understanding of Alternative Learning Experience (ALE) rules, requirements, and compliance expectationsAbility to effectively support students in an online learning environmentStrong organizational and communication skillsPreferred QualificationsPrior experience teaching in an online platformExperience with Odysseyware and/or Edgenuity courseware systemsExperience working within an ALE programFamiliarity with progress monitoring, Written Student Learning Plans, and monthly progress review complianceSkills and DispositionsDemonstrates flexibility and responsiveness to student needsStrong time management and organizational skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a collaborative teamCommitment to equity and student-centered practicesAbility to foster positive relationships in a virtual learning environmentSalary:Stipend position - $2500.00 per course (up to $5000.00 total)Employment is contingent upon successful clearance of a Washington State Patrol, FBI fingerprint criminal history background check, and Sexual Misconduct background check.
