Controls Automation Engineer

Location/Division Specific Information This position is located in Logan, UT, USA How will you make an impact? This position is part of the Manufacturing Engineering Team which includes mechanical engineers, controls engineers, project managers, and technicians all of whom, as a team, are responsible for equipment across multiple division manufacturing sites. What will you do? This position shares responsibility for activities related to specifying, designing, fabricating, and qualifying new equipment and equipment improvements designed to improve productivity, capacity, cost reduction, and efficiency. Specifically, this position is responsible for the electrical and controls engineering aspects of these activities. How will you get here? Education Bachelor's degree (BSME, BSEE preferred) OR, minimum of 4 years demonstrated applicable technical experience Experience Analyzing data and applying objective judgement to resolve problems Applying engineering principles and industry standards to control system designs Managing assignments across multiple engineering projects Successfully executing to project deliverables including budgets and timelines Assisting in specification, design, fabrication, and qualification of automated manufacturing equipment Exposure to design and implementation of automation systems for high-mix/low-volume production desired Machine design to applicable ISO standards and CE directives is a plus (not required) Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Proficient in MS Office and RSLogix 5000 (Allen Bradley) Experience in technical writing authoring such things as engineering protocols, reports, and procedures Medical Device manufacturing (i.e. GMP, FDA, ISO 13485) experience is a plus (not required) Self-motivated with good problem solving, communication, and coordination skills At Thermo Fisher Scientific, each one of our 70,000 extraordinary minds has a unique story to tell.
