Job SummaryM.S. Willett Inc. — BLEMA North America is looking for an experienced Tool and Die Maker to design, build, repair, and maintain the precision tooling that drives our manufacturing operations. You will work from engineering drawings and CAD models to fabricate stamping dies, forming tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges — applying a full range of machining, grinding, fitting, and assembly skills. For over 95 years, Willett has delivered advanced metal forming solutions from our facility in Littlestown, PA. As part of The Leonhardt Group, a family-owned German industrial enterprise, we serve as BLEMA's North American hub for engineering, service, and technical support. The tooling you build here runs in production lines across the continent, forming millions of metal containers every year.Responsibilities and DutiesBuild, assemble, and fit new stamping dies, progressive dies, transfer dies, and forming tools from engineering drawings, CAD models, and specificationsPerform precision machining operations on manual and CNC equipment including milling machines, lathes, surface grinders, jig grinders, and EDM (wire and sinker)Heat treat, harden, and temper tool steel components to specified Rockwell hardness requirementsInspect finished tooling using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, dial indicators, height gauges, CMM, and optical comparatorsTroubleshoot, diagnose, and repair existing dies and tooling to restore production-ready condition, identifying root cause of wear or failurePerform die tryouts in stamping presses, evaluate part quality, and make adjustments to achieve dimensional accuracy and acceptable surface finishCollaborate with design engineers on new tool concepts, providing input on manufacturability, material selection, and assembly sequenceMaintain detailed records of die builds, repairs, modifications, and spare parts inventoryTrain and mentor junior toolmakers and apprentices on proper techniques, safety practices, and trade knowledgeQualifications and Skills5+ years of experience as a Tool and Die Maker in a stamping, metal forming, or tooling environmentJourneyman Tool and Die Maker certification or equivalent demonstrated skill through a recognized apprenticeship programProficiency operating manual machining equipment: milling machines, engine lathes, surface grinders, and jig grindersHands-on experience with wire EDM and/or sinker EDM processesAbility to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T callouts (ASME Y14.5), and die assembly printsThorough knowledge of tool steels, heat treatment processes, and material properties relevant to die constructionCompetence with precision measurement tools and techniques to tolerances of ±0.0005" or tighterHigh school diploma or equivalentPreferred:Experience with progressive dies, transfer dies, or compound dies for metal packaging applicationsWorking knowledge of CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or MastercamCNC programming and operation skills (Fanuc or Siemens controls)Familiarity with press automation, transfer systems, or in-die sensing technologyTIG or MIG welding skills for die repair and modificationBenefits and PerksHourly Pay: $38-$42 per hour, based on depth of expertise and machine experience401(k) retirement plan with generous company match: 100% on the first 3% of your contributions, plus 50% on the next 2%Medical insurance (Aetna), dental insurance (United Concordia), and vision insurance (National Vision Administrators)Employer-paid life insurance and short-term disability coverage8 paid holidays annuallyPaid time off (PTO) accrued by length of service: 120 hours/year (Years 1–6), 160 hours/year (Years 7–14), and 200 hours/year (Year 15+)Paid leaves of absence including bereavement, military leave, jury duty, and witness/victim of crime leaveTool allowance for personal precision instrumentsOpportunities for advanced training, cross-training on new technologies, and career progression into senior toolmaker or tooling lead rolesStable, full-time employment with a 95-year-old manufacturer backed by the financial strength of The Leonhardt GroupPowered by JazzHRZQnuFSFx7v
