High School Biology TeacherPosition Title: High School Biology TeacherLocation: Chichester School District - Chichester High SchoolPosition SummaryThe High School Biology Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging, rigorous instruction in biology and life sciences to students in grades 9-12. This role fosters a positive, inclusive learning environment, encourages scientific inquiry, and supports students in developing critical thinking and real-world understanding of biological concepts.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement biology instructional units and lesson plans aligned with Pennsylvania state standards and district curriculum goals.Teach core biology topics such as cellular biology, genetics, ecology, evolution, anatomy and physiology, and laboratory techniques.Create a safe and effective laboratory environment; supervise and instruct students in laboratory procedures, experiments, and scientific investigations.Assess and evaluate student learning through a variety of assessments (formative and summative), provide timely feedback, and maintain accurate records of student performance.Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic needs of students and support learners at all levels.Maintain classroom management and a positive learning environment that promotes respect and student engagement.Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and participate in parent-teacher conferences.Collaborate with colleagues, participate in departmental and staff meetings, and contribute to ongoing professional development.Participate in school activities, extracurricular programs, and community events as appropriate.Minimum QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree in Biology, Life Science, Secondary Education (with Biology focus), or a closely related field.Certification: Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification for Biology at the secondary (9-12) level or appropriate Science/Life Science certification.Experience: Prior teaching experience at the high school level is preferred, though new teachers are encouraged to apply.Strong communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.Ability to integrate technology into instructional practice and student assessment.
