Job Title: Mainframe Developer
Location: United States — Onsite, Hybrid, or Remote (based on client needs)
Employment Type: W2 · Full-time.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as a core contributor in the design, development, enhancement, and maintenance of enterprise-grade Mainframe applications.
Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, and technical teams to gather requirements and translate them into robust Mainframe-based solutions.
Develop, enhance, and support Mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2.
Work extensively with batch and online processing systems to ensure high performance and reliability.
Design, develop, and maintain DB2 databases, including writing optimized SQL queries and stored procedures.
Handle file processing using VSAM (KSDS, ESDS, RRDS) and sequential files.
Develop and maintain JCL jobs, scheduling, job control, and production support.
Integrate Mainframe systems with distributed platforms using MQ Series, Web Services, APIs, or Middleware tools.
Follow Agile/Scrum methodologies, actively participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
Perform unit testing, integration testing, system testing, and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues, ensuring system stability and minimal downtime.
Participate in application modernization initiatives, including Mainframe migration or integration with cloud-based systems.
Ensure compliance with enterprise security, audit, and regulatory standards.
Document technical designs, programs, and operational procedures following industry best practices.
Stay current with Mainframe technologies, tools, and modernization trends.
Required Skills & Experience:
5–7+ years of hands-on experience as a Mainframe Developer
Strong expertise in COBOL (Batch & Online), JCL, CICS, and DB2
Solid experience with VSAM files, file handling, and data processing
Experience working with batch scheduling tools such as CA-7, Control-M, or Tivoli
Proficiency in SQL and performance tuning in DB2 environments
Experience with Mainframe integration technologies such as MQ Series, Web Services, or APIs
Hands-on experience with Agile/Scrum environments and tools like JIRA, Confluence, or ServiceNow
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Prior experience working with US-based clients or large enterprise Mainframe applications is highly preferred
Experience in Banking, Financial Services, Insurance (BFSI) domain is a strong plus
