Senior Project Architect / Design Manager (Cities & Places)

As we continue to expand our architectural practice in the Northwest, we’re seeking a Senior Project Architect / Design Manager based out of Boise, ID and Bellevue, WA, to help lead transformative design projects that positively impact communities.In this role, you’ll play a key part in delivering complex architecture projects from concept through construction. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams across Jacobs—bringing together design, technical excellence, digital innovation, and project leadership. You’ll have the opportunity to influence project vision, mentor emerging professionals, and shape the built environment across one of the world’s most dynamic markets.What You’ll DoLead architectural design and technical development from early concept through construction documentation and construction contract administration.Serve as a project architect and/or design manager on medium to large, complex architectural projects across the Cities & Places market, typically but not exclusively for clients located in the Northwest region (WA, ID, OR, HI, AK, MT, Dakotas).Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including architecture, engineering, planning, interiors, and specialty consultants.Develop and review detailed drawing sets, specifications, building systems, and code compliance documentation.Facilitate client presentations, design reviews, and stakeholder engagement activities.Lead architectural design team efforts for construction phase services, providing or overseeing Jacobs’ responses to RFIs, submittal and shop drawing reviews, construction modification documents, and site visit/observations.Be responsible for the overall quality of design deliverables in adherence with Jacobs’ rigorous Quality Program.Oversee and manage project design schedules, deliverables, and quality standards to ensure alignment with scope and client expectations.Mentor and guide junior architects and designers, fostering a collaborative project environment.Support design strategy, sustainability goals, and digital delivery workflows (BIM/Revit).Partner with project managers to manage design risk, resolve technical challenges, and ensure successful execution.Here's what you'll needBachelor’s or Master’s degree in ArchitectureLicensed Architect (U.S.) or actively pursuing licensure, with reciprocity capability.Minimum 10 years of progressive architectural experience, including experience leading complex, multi-disciplinary building and infrastructure design projects.Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM workflows.Strong understanding of building codes, construction methods, and technical detailing.Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams.Excellent communication, documentation, and client-facing skills.Ideally, You’ll Also HaveExperience delivering projects within the Puget Sound and/or Boise metropolitan areas.Previous work on advanced facilities, civic, institutional, aviation, or mixed-use projects, with an emphasis on the water and transportation sectors.Experience with alternative delivery models Design-Build, Progressive-Design-Build, CMAR, P3, Integrated Project Delivery, etc.Strong design sensibility combined with technical expertise.Experience with sustainable design frameworks (LEED, WELL, Envision, etc.).Familiarity with digital design tools such as Rhino, Enscape, Navisworks, or similar.Familiarity with Bentley tools such as Open Buildings and ProjectWise.Demonstrated ability to lead teams and mentor emerging professionals.The salary range reflects the minimum and maximum target new hire salaries for this position across all listed U.S. locations.Our health and welfare benefits are designed to invest in you, and in the things you care about.
