Step Up Tutoring Application (Remote)

We are looking for volunteer tutors that would love to inspire youth! If you feel called to action, want to be a mentor, and want to improve your teaching skills, this is the perfect opportunity. In this role you will be providing FREE online tutoring to low income students. You will help students improve academically, will cultivate their interest in learning, and help them to feel connected to a larger community. You will be working with a student going into 2nd-8th grade (ages 7-14) from underfunded schools.College students encouraged to apply!To ensure the safety of students and their families all tutors must complete a Live Scan fingerprinting background check.Tutor responsibilities are:Conduct lessons online (minimum of two hours per week)Manage scheduling with the student's familyCommit to a semester/grading periodProvide feedback to Step Up Tutoring, parents, and teachersParticipate in a 1 hour online trainingMonitor students' academic progress and engagementTutor requirements are:Solid internet accessOrganized, energetic, and committedBachelors Degree (or in progress)Strong communication and interpersonal skillsFingerprinting background checkEnjoy working with kids!Tutors are asked to pay for their own fingerprinting/background check. In certain cases of need, Step Up Tutoring may subsidize the cost of the background check. Estimated cost is $75-100.Note: You will be submitting video responses in the application and Chrome is required to complete. Expect to spend 20-30 minutes to complete.
