This position focuses on facility and grounds maintenance and is responsible for performing specialized and practical duties related to cleaning, pool maintenance, daily operations, and ensuring compliance with water quality standards.JOB FUNCTIONSExamples of Essential Job FunctionsClean the Clive Aquatic Center and its equipment - including swimming pools, pool decks, equipment areas, locker rooms, concessions, and showers - to maintain sanitary and safe conditions.Report any issues related to water clarity or system alarms to the supervisor.Perform minor repairs to swimming pool equipment and facility components.Vacuum pools operate with leaf blowers, and power wash facility areas using designated equipment.Manage trash and waste disposal in and around the aquatic center.Assist with setup and movement of equipment as needed.Patch and maintain inner tubes.Report any broken safety or mechanical equipment to the appropriate supervisor.Other Job DutiesWork morning or evening shifts to ensure facility maintenance is completed and the aquatic center is ready for operation.Performs additional duties as assigned or apparent, including:Janitorial tasks throughout the aquatic facilityLandscaping tasks around the facilityCompleting opening and closing checklistsArriving on time at the start of scheduled shiftCommunicating any special situations or concernsAdhering to all facility rules and policiesEMPLOYMENT STANDARDS AND QUALIFICATIONSEMPLOYMENT STANDARDSRequired Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to think logically and follow written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions using several abstract or concrete variables.Ability to follow instructions and directives accurately.Knowledge of facility operations and the safety procedures used.Knowledge of general janitorial/ maintenance practices.Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with superiors, co-workers, and the public: the ability to tactfully handle a wide array of social situations.EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCEEducation RequiredContinued education in High School or above.Experience RequiredWork experience in recreation facilities.Required QualificationsMust be at least 16 years of age and possess a current, valid driver's license.Must have knowledge of, and be able to demonstrate, best cleaning practices using various power tools and/ or cleaning equipment.PHYSICAL AND ENVIROMENTAL CHARACTERISTICSRequired Physical Activities:Sitting, standing, kneeling, reaching, climbing, walking, finger dexterity, talking, watching, hearing, repetitive motions, lifting, carrying, pushing, and or pulling.Physical Characteristics of the Job:Moderate Physical Demand: Work that involves lifting up to seventy-five (75) pounds occasionally and up to twenty-five (25) pounds on a frequent basis.Environmental Characteristics:Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, that involves seasonal exposure to heat and cold.
