Veterinary Science Instructor

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION: The primary purpose of a Career and Technical Education Instructor is to provide students with hands-on, industry-aligned training that prepares them for successful careers. This includes delivering individualized and competency-based instruction, fostering technical and employability skills, and supporting students in achieving industry certifications and career readiness. PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Provide High-Quality Instruction: Deliver hands-on, competency-based instruction aligned with the applicable Massachusetts Career and Technical Education Frameworks, utilizing a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse student learning needs. 2.Develop and Implement Curriculum: Design and adapt curriculum materials that reflect current industry standards, integrate real-world applications, and promote mastery of technical competencies and employability skills. 3.Promote Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: Enhance students' problem-solving, analytical, and technical skills through project-based learning, performance tasks, and real-world challenges that mirror industry expectations. 4.Integrate Authentic Work-Based Learning Opportunities: Provide students with portfolio-worthy projects and practical learning experiences that connect technical skills to future careers and credentialing opportunities. 5.Incorporate Technology and Industry Practices: Stay current with industry trends and integrate relevant tools and technologies into instruction to ensure students develop the skills necessary for today's workforce. 6.Assess and Support Student Growth: Utilize formative and summative assessments to evaluate technical competencies and provide timely, constructive feedback and help students to achieve their goals. Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including attendance, grades, and competency progress. 7.Maintain a Safe and Effective Learning Environment: Ensure all classroom and shop environments are safe, organized, and conducive to learning. Regularly inspect and maintain equipment, tools, and instructional areas, reporting any issues as needed. 8.Foster a Positive Learning Community: Build an inclusive and respectful learning environment that encourages collaboration, personal responsibility, and a growth mindset. Supervise students and ensure safety and accountability at all times. 9.Participate in Professional Growth and Program Development: Stay current with changes in industry, technology, and education through ongoing professional development. Assist in updating competency lists, curriculum, and instructional materials to align with evolving standards and best practices. 10.Collaborate and Support School Initiatives: Work cooperatively with school leadership and colleagues to support school policies and initiatives. Contribute to the development of departmental budgets, purchasing processes, and other operational tasks. 11.Ensure Student Safety and Well-Being: Maintain a safe, structured, and supervised learning environment by actively monitoring student behavior; implementing classroom safety protocols; responding appropriately to emergencies; and adhering to all district policies, procedures, and training related to student safety, supervision, and well-being. 12.Perform Additional Duties as Assigned: Complete additional tasks as directed by the immediate supervisor, Assistant Superintendent/Principal, or Superintendent-Director. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: 1.Is responsible to the CTE Chairperson of the applicable content area 2.Must work cooperatively with all faculty and staff to support student success and school operations. QUALIFICATIONS (Preparation, Experience, Competencies, Personal Attributes): 1.Massachusetts Vocational Technical Education Teacher Licensure in the applicable field required or possess the minimum requirements to be eligible for licensure. 2.Experience in curriculum development, with the ability to design, revise, and adapt instructional materials that align with Massachusetts Career and Technical Education Frameworks. 3.Strong classroom and shop management skills, with the ability to maintain a safe and effective learning environment. 4.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, colleagues, and industry partners. 5.Proficiency in integrating technology into instruction, with experience in relevant industry tools, software, and digital learning resources. 6.Commitment to staying current with industry standards and educational best practices through professional growth and ongoing learning.
