CAD Technician
CAD TechnicianPrecision Industrial Contractors, Inc. is seeking a FT CAD Technician for immediate hire.Create and design Shop and Field drawings, structures, fabricated parts/assemblies for new and existing product, facilities and equipment. Provide Assembly drawings, Shop drawings and layouts reflecting concern for function, costs, manufacturability, and quality. This position reports to the Manufacturing Manager of the business unit and is responsible for working from 2D and 3D models or blueprints to generate models, flat patterns, parts for the Laser/Water Jet cutting and press brake machines. Position will have frequent contact with persons in manufacturing, the mechanical design team, sales, and management personnel.Duties and Responsibilities:Use AutoCAD and Inventor software to generate Shop drawing, Field drawing and layouts.Program parts for Water Jet using Optimization Nesting SoftwareSolicit feedback from production personnel; trouble shoot production problems relating to part design criteriaMaintain and update product design criteria as necessaryProvide feedback to sales and submittal departments regarding design criteriaProvide technical support to Sales, Submittals, and Manufacturing as requiredResearch new and improved construction methods for continued product improvementTrain personnel in product designs, as requiredAssist in standardizing selection criteria for partsProperly maintain drawing system integrity in product data management systemWork independently to complete groups of drawing projects with good documentation and organization. Qualifications, Education, and Experience: Minimum RequirementsKnowledge of 2D and 3D engineering standards3D Mechanical/Design drafting experienceExperience working in a production environmentMust Pass a Pre-employment drug screenAssociates Degree - prefer Drafting Technology or Mechanical Engineering, ORHigh School Diploma/GED + Vocational Training in CADMinimum 2 years of relevant Mechanical/Structural drafting experienceArchitectural background highly beneficial for position Required Skills Proficient PC skills and be able to learn new software applicationsStrong attention to detail with capability of self-checking work for accuracyStrong mechanical aptitude, good reasoning and problem-solving skillsGood oral and written communication skillsAbility to work in a team environmentAbility to manage time, flex with work flow demands and prioritize workAbility to read and interpret manufacturing blue prints and specsProficient in shop drawings and detailingAbility to produce rection drawings or shop drawingsAbility to detail from contract drawings and modelsUnderstand and interpret architectural and structural engineer drawingsKnowledge of structural steel and miscellaneous metalsExperience in Tekla and Solidworks a plus, or the ability to learn it!
