POSITION: Associate Pastor of Discipleship
REPORTS TO: Lead Pastor
Overview
This position will oversee the care and discipleship ministries of Redeemer’s Church. The role is responsible for developing healthy environments where people can grow spiritually, receive support in times of need, and become equipped to disciple others. Primary oversight includes Biblical Counseling, Marriage Ministry, Men’s & Women’s Discipleship, and Church @ Home Groups, ensuring we are training leaders, multiplying groups, and effectively assimilating people into community.

Redeemer’s Church is a rapidly growing church. We are a casual, multi-ethnic, multi-generational church of 800+ weekly attendees (adults, students, and kids) with a passion to serve and reach low-income & culturally diverse communities. We are located in Reedley, CA, 25 minutes south of Fresno. Our culture is relational, authentic, and accessible for people new to faith.

Good at organizing systems of training and development for leaders
Committed to the Bible as the authoritative guide for faith and life.
Demonstrates a personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
Able to lead others in spiritual formation and practical discipleship.
Systematic and strategic approach to building teams and processes.
Effective communicator who can train, teach, preach and inspire.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) desired but not required.
Ministry Responsibilities
1. Systems of Care
Oversee and lead the Biblical Counseling Team (volunteer counselors). Assign counseling needs to appropriate team members
Help develop care teams and train new counselors through ABC training
Coordinate care teams over benevolence, funerals/weddings, visitation & prayer
Equip and develop a team of marriage mentor couples through Re-Engage ministry
Plan marriage enrichment opportunities (courses, retreats, or seasonal gatherings).
3. Discipleship & Leadership Systems
Develop a system for spiritual growth across Men, Women, and adult discipleship environments.
Connect new baptisms and believers to mentors and discipleship pathways
Work with other pastors to align discipleship pathways across ministries (students, Spanish ministry, kids)
Coordinate discipleship pathway classes and workshops for training
Assist with teaching in discipleship classes, internships, and residency programs.
Regularly review and refine leadership pipelines with staff and ministry coordinators.
4. Groups Ministry (Church @ Home)
Recruit, train, and coach group leaders, apprentices, and hosts.
Shepherd and multiply groups to match church growth and seasonal rhythms.
Create clear pathways to assimilate new people into groups within a reasonable timeframe.
Provide ongoing training and care for group leaders.
6. Team & Staff Collaboration
Participate in weekly staff meetings, prayer times, and planning sessions.
Be present and available on Sundays to meet people and help coordinate Sunday service systems.
Teach and preach when requested. Strong teaching ability highly desired.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree plus 3–5 years of ministry-related work experience (pastoral, counseling, discipleship, or group leadership).
Demonstrated ability to develop volunteers and lead teams.
High degree of personal integrity and emotional/spiritual maturity.
Strong communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal).
Biblical literacy required; seminary or counseling training a plus (ACBC, CCEF, Soul Care, etc.).
Experience working in multi-ethnic or culturally diverse settings is preferred.
Agrees to and adheres to Redeemer’s Church Statement of Faith and leadership commitments.
Job Type & Compensation
Full-Time, Salaried (based on Experience & Education)
