Controls and Instrumentation Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Controls and Instrumentation Engineer to join our team onsite in Alexandria, LA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing engineering design packages, coordinating with various stakeholders, and supporting construction and startup activities in a process plant environment.Key Responsibilities:Develop and deliver engineering design packages for power and instrumentation installations in industrial plants, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.Define the scope of work with customers, coordinate with offshore teams, and collect required inputs to complete engineering designs effectively.Collaborate with vendors, construction teams, and customers to gather necessary information and ensure timely completion and approval of design deliverables.Design and document control systems, instrumentation layouts, and electrical distribution panels, including Instrument Datasheets, I/O Lists, Wiring Diagrams, and Control System Architecture.Support construction and startup activities, including leading electrical startup of process and packaging equipment.Conduct and participate in design reviews, providing technical expertise and securing necessary approvals from stakeholders.Ensure all designs adhere to relevant codes and standards (NEC, UL508A) and comply with safety and quality requirements (NFPA 70E).Prepare and review procurement deliverables, including Material Requisitions, Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE), and Vendor Drawing Reviews for control and instrumentation systems.Engage in interdisciplinary activities such as P&ID reviews, 3D model reviews, and equipment layout validation to support cohesive project execution.Provide technical guidance and problem-solving support during system commissioning and validation activities to ensure project success.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or related Engineering discipline.5+ years of experience in instrumentation and control design for industrial plants.Proficiency in PLC and SCADA systems, LV electrical distribution design, and control panel design (UL508A).Strong understanding of NEC and NFPA 70E standards.Excellent project management and communication skills.Experience in system commissioning and validation is a plus.
