OverviewWe are seeking a full-time Design Certification Engineer 2 - Avionics for Garmin's Salem, OR location. In this role, you will be responsible for leading project engineering teams in certification processes and development activities of avionics products under the direction of a team leader or mentor. This role also manages project schedules and deliverables through leadership, teamwork, and use of communication skills and works collaboratively with project engineering teams to solve complex engineering problems. This role also improves Garmin's processes and products through innovative solutions, while ensuring compliance to aviation industry standards and federal regulations.Essential FunctionsDraft and submit unit-level certification documentation required by TSOs and other regulatory standards to the appropriate certification authorityLead project engineering teams in executing projects according to development processes to ensure compliance with all applicable certification requirementsUse project management skills to coordinate project schedules and deliverables per aviation processesPerform unit level safety and security analysis and requirement generationCoordinate technical compliance documentation and testing for applicable local, national, and international standards and regulations (e.g. FCC, CE, ANATEL, RED, EAR)Contribute to project engineering teams to design, validate, and verify aviation projectsOrganize and guide project testing and document results in test reportsUpdate Garmin’s processes and products for new regulations, enhanced safety and security requirements, and improved efficiencyContribute to product concept and development plans through collaboration with design engineering teamsBalance multiple projects and work with multidisciplinary teamsBasic QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Electrical, Computer Science, Aerospace, or Computer Engineering or another similar technical degree AND a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experienceExcellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)Must possess demonstrated knowledge, education, and/or training of basic circuits (Digital, FPGA, Analog and/or RF)Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsSuperior organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and qualityAbility and desire to take ownership of new and/or existing projectsMust be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others, ensuring successful achievement of company goalsDesired QualificationsSuperior personal and team oriented organizational skillsExperience and/or knowledge of RTCA DO160 and DO254Knowledge and/or training with technical writing and reviewingKnowledge and/or training with avionicsGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
