Learn more about the benefits of joining Team UES and our core values at careers.teamues.com.Position OverviewThe Field Staff Scientist is a field-driven role responsible for performing environmental and geotechnical site investigations, environmental sampling, compliance monitoring, and on-site technical support. This position requires extensive time in the field conducting soil, groundwater, vapor, and building material assessments while ensuring adherence to regulatory and safety standards. This includes working under the direction of Project Managers or Senior Scientists to collect and document environmental data, support remediation and construction oversight activities, and assist in preparing technical documentation based on field findings.ResponsibilitiesConduct environmental studies to evaluate natural resources, ecosystems, and pollution levels.Perform fieldwork, collect samples, and gather data using various methods and equipment.Analyze environmental data, including air and water quality, soil composition, and biodiversity.Interpret findings to assess environmental impacts and identify potential risks.Prepare detailed reports documenting research findings, data analysis, and recommendations.Develop proposals, cost estimates, and project deliverables to meet client expectations and quality standards.Perform Phase I and II ESA technical writing in addition to fieldwork related to soil, groundwater, and vapor sampling.Conduct site investigations, collect and evaluate data, and prepare comprehensive reports.Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and standards.Assist in obtaining environmental permits and approvals for projects.Manage environmental projects, including groundwater monitoring and Phase I/II Environmental Site AssessmentsTrack project budgets, schedules, and deliverables to ensure timely and effective execution.Analyze reports, maps, drawings, and other data to plan and design projects.Collaborate with organizations, government agencies, and communities to promote eco-friendly practices.Engage stakeholders in environmental planning, decision-making, and public outreach.Provide education and training on environmental regulations, issues, and best practices.Other duties may be assigned.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology or related fieldAHERA Asbestos Inspector license and current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification required.Minimum of 3+ years of experience in environmental research, assessments, and project management.Experience conducting Phase I and Phase II ESAs, soil/groundwater sampling, and site investigations.Working knowledge of environmental regulations, site remediation strategies, and compliance standards.Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and documentation.Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with GIS, AutoCAD, or environmental software a plus.Proficiency in the Microsoft Office required; experience with GIS, AutoCAD, or environmental field software (e.g., Inspector Gadget, FDC) preferred.Must be able to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Valid driver's license and ability to travel frequently.Travel RequirementsThis position requires extensive travel, approximately up to 70% of the time, in support of business objectives and client engagements. Travel may be both scheduled and on short notice, depending on project needs. Destinations typically include job sites, field locations, or regional offices, where work may be conducted in outdoor or operational environments. Adherence to all company safety protocols and use of PPE is required during travel and on-site work.Physical Demands & Work EnvironmentWork is primarily conducted outdoors with exposure to outdoor conditions, including:Sites that may not be accessible by vehicle, requiring travel on foot through wetlands, swamps, grasslands, construction zones, and other uneven or rugged terrain with natural and man-made obstacles such as sand, brush, and debris.Moderate to loud noise levels due to lab equipment, field operations, and construction environments.Exposure to dirt, dust, chemicals, sun, heat, humidity, and varying weather conditions as part of field sample collection and testing.Physical requirements include:Ability to lift and carry between 35 and 75 lbs. over distances up to 75 feet, involving regular repetitive motion.Ability to stand, walk, drive, and operate laboratory and field equipment for extended periods.Ability to bend, twist, reach, stoop, pull, kneel, climb, balance, lift, carry, and push as required for laboratory and fieldwork.Ability to use visual, auditory, tactile, and olfactory senses, including near/far vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.Ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written means in a lab and field environment, often requiring the use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).EEO StatementUES is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is proud to recruit the most qualified candidates.
