Junior Devo Mountain Bike Program Head Coach
(Summer + Fall Programs) Position Type: Seasonal / Part-Time Pay: $35-$40 an hour Program Focus: Ages ~8–12 | Skills progression, fitness development, fostering a love of the sport Reports to: Team Summit MTB Program Director Role Overview The Junior Devo Head Coach leads the intermediate development program within Team Summit MTB. This role bridges foundational skills and more advanced riding, introducing athletes to structured skill progression, fitness concepts, and group riding dynamics. The Junior Devo Program Head Coach will guide athletes toward becoming confident, capable trail riders while maintaining a fun, supportive team environment.Program ScheduleSummer Program: June 9 – August 6 – Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:00–7:00 PMFall Program: August 18 – October 1 – Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:00–6:30 PMSummer Camps: The opportunity to coach/lead one or all of our Town of Frisco Bike Camps! See camp dates belowJune 22nd – 26th – 9:00am – 4:30pm each dayJuly 6th – 10th – 9:00am – 4:30pm each dayJuly 20th – 24th – 9:00am – 4:30pm each dayAugust 3rd – 7th – 9:00am – 4:30pm each dayKey ResponsibilitiesLead Junior Devo program practices and oversee on-trial executionDesign age-appropriate and structured practice plans focused on:Intermediate bike handling skills (high-speed cornering/berms, front/rear wheel lifts, roll-downs, beginner jumps/drops)Technical climbing and descendingLine choice, pacing, riding with a group, and trail awarenessTrail safety, awareness, and etiquetteIntroduce basic cycling fitness concepts and riding efficiencyPromote teamwork, sportsmanship, and self-confidenceEnsure rider safety and appropriate risk managementSupervise assistant coaches and volunteersCommunicate with parents regarding athlete progress and expectationsAssist with clinics, day trips, and optional program activitiesRepresent Team Summit values and athlete development goalsQualificationsExperience coaching youth cyclists and/or working with childrenStrong mountain biking skills and trail knowledgeAbility to manage groups of young riders in outdoor settingsCurrent CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)Background check clearancePassion for youth development and outdoor recreationUSA Cycling membershipHeadsUp certification (or willingness to obtain)PreferredBICP Level I, PMBIA 1, or equivalent coaching certification (or willingness to obtain certification before job start — certification costs covered by Team Summit)Previous MTB coaching experienceFamiliarity with Summit County Trail SystemsJ-18808-Ljbffr
