Fort Worth, TX or Cincinnati, OHOverviewThe Senior Structural Engineer plays a critical role in delivering complex industrial projects from concept through detailed design. This position offers the opportunity to lead challenging work involving steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures while collaborating closely with experienced multi-discipline engineering teams. This position allows you to sell our services, lead projects, and build a department – we are looking for a pioneer to develop our Structural team. Successful candidates are also excited to lead and develop junior engineers.What You'll Do:Sells DEG services and develop existing and new client relationshipsDevelops structural scopes, schedules, and costs for projectsGathers field data and inspects sites and structures to evaluate existing conditions when necessaryIndependently performs and ensures all calculations and design efforts to prepare deliverablesEnsures structural design is accurate and coordinated within the model and drawingsCoordinates and communicates with designers on projects and establishes clear directionWrites project-based documents including, but not limited to: studies, project notes, scope, close-out reportsSelects appropriate construction materialsObtains plans and building regulation approvalsCoordinates with outside consultants and contractors when required (geotechnical engineers, construction contractors, etc.)Participates in construction support, startup, and commissioning effortsFollows the DEG Standard Operating Procedures and Client Standards, ensuring quality and technical accuracy of project deliverablesEstablishes and manages their own engineering schedule and budget objectives on assigned projectsSigns off on drawing packagesSkills & Experience:10+ years of experience designing structures in steel, concrete, masonry, and/or woodBachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering or related fieldPE license requiredProven experience developing and mentoring staff membersSkilled with Risa-3D, Revit, and NavisworksFamiliar with necessary codes, including but not limited to: IBC, ASCE, ACI 318, AISC, and NDSCompetent in selecting construction materials, construction methods, and industry standardsStrong structural analysis experience, including 3D and solid finite element modelingWhy Davies?Davies Engineering Group is named after the late Gary Davies, an engineer who inspired others to dream bigger, work harder, and do what's right - even if it's not easy.
