Infant Child Care Teacher

OverviewWaldron Mercy Child Care (WMCC) is a year-round private center that is affiliated with Waldron Mercy Academy and governed by the Sisters of Mercy. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Infant Child Care Teacher to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for all aspects of creating a nurturing environment to meet the needs of each child in the class.   Essential FunctionsResponsible for the planning, preparation and implementation of daily lessons and activities, including playground activities, and observe in order to evaluate students’ progress.Coordinate daily activities and supervise aides.Arrange the classroom environment in accordance with program goals and philosophy.Ability to anticipate and prevent problems, deal with disruptive children, provide fair but firm discipline, and be enthusiastic and constantly alert.Maintain open communication with students, parents, teachers and other child care workers, ensuring confidentiality.Understand and comply with all school policies and procedures, as well as with all Pennsylvania State, NAEYC and PA Stars licensing and certification regulations. Be familiar with all written school information given to parents, visitors, and students.  Contribute to literature upon request.Perform all required record keeping.Maintain a safe and healthy environment for all.Report any suspected abuse to supervisor.Attend in-service and staff meetings, as well as conferences and workshops relevant to the job. QualificationsAssociates degree in early childhood education preferred or must be committed to acquiring same.High school diploma or GED certificate and 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education or related field.Child Development Associate (CDA) or a Certified Childcare Professional (CCP) and three years of experience working with children.Must be mature, patient, understanding, and articulate, and have energy and physical stamina.Some skill in music, art, drama, and/or storytelling.Must meet all Pennsylvania state licensing requirements, including:FBI fingerprinting clearancePA State Police clearanceChild Abuse clearanceNational Sex Offender clearanceInfant/Child CPR and First Aid trainingMandated Reporter trainingHealth assessment/TB testPhysical Requirements and Work EnvironmentAble to bend and lift up to 45 lbs. while moving children on and off the changing table, in and out of cribs, etc.Able to get down on the floor to be level with the children during play, naptime, or special activities.  Also able to be level with them at the table during meal or snack time to aid in feeding.Able to hold babies when feeding them a bottle.Able to take children out to the play yard and for walks.Work primarily in a traditional climate controlled classroom environment.Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
