Adecco Creative and Marketing partnered with a food service provider to hire a controller. Location: Harlem (Manhattan) NY Pay: $100,000-$110,000 per year Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Reporting Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, and month‑end close Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP Manage cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and working capital Maintain accurate event‑level profitability reporting and margin analysis Cost Control & Profitability Monitor and analyze food, beverage, labor, and rental costs across events and venues Partner with operations and sales to ensure accurate pricing, job costing, and post‑event financial reviews Develop and implement cost‑control procedures to improve margins and reduce waste Budgeting & Forecasting Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecast processes Track performance against budget and forecast, identifying variances and actionable insights Support strategic planning for growth, seasonality, and capital investments Compliance & Controls Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements (sales tax, payroll tax, etc.) Manage relationships with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors Establish and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies Oversee insurance, licensing, and financial compliance related to events and venues Systems & Process Improvement Own accounting systems and POS integrations (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, event management or catering software) Improve financial processes for scalability and reporting efficiency Partner with leadership to implement systems that support multi‑event and multi‑venue reporting Leadership & Collaboration Manage and develop accounting staff or external bookkeeping partners Serve as a strategic business partner to ownership, sales, and operations teams Translate financial data into clear insights for non‑financial stakeholders Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Progressive accounting/finance experience, preferably within hospitality, catering, food service, or events Strong understanding of job costing, gross margins, and labor‑driven businesses Experience managing high transaction volumes and event‑based revenue Advanced Excel skills; experience with accounting and ERP systems CPA preferred but not required Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills Preferred Experience Catering, restaurant group, hotel, or event production environment Multi‑location or multi‑venue operations Supporting fast‑paced, owner‑operated or entrepreneurial businesses
