General Concrete Laborer
NOW HIRING Entry Level General Concrete Laborers!!Job DescriptionThe General Laborer supports concrete construction projects by setting and checking forms, placing and finishing concrete, and assisting with a variety of related tasks on-site. This role involves hands-on work in an outdoor environment, using both hand and power tools to ensure high-quality concrete surfaces and structurally sound results.ResponsibilitiesSet concrete forms to the specified pitch, depth, and alignment according to project requirements.Inspect and verify that concrete forms are properly constructed and secure before pouring.Place, level, and smooth concrete using tools such as rakes, shovels, hand and power trowels, hand and power screeds, and floats.Create a rough, slip-resistant concrete surface using a broom finish when required.Form expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers, and straightedges to meet specifications.Clean chipped or damaged concrete areas using a wire brush and assess surfaces by feel and observation to identify rough or uneven spots.Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure concrete surfaces and provide waterproofing or restoration as needed.Handle materials, move equipment, and assist with general construction and assembly tasks on the job site.Safely operate a forklift when needed, in accordance with site safety practices and training.Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds consistently throughout the workday.Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.Follow all safety guidelines and instructions from supervisors and work cooperatively with the crew.Perform other duties as requested to support overall project completion and efficiency.Essential Skills1–2 years of construction experience in any trade.Experience in concrete, concrete construction, or concrete finishing is highly preferred.Ability to lift 50 pounds consistently throughout the day.Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from job sites.Ability to use basic hand tools commonly used in construction and concrete work.Experience with flatwork and foundation construction.Ability to work safely and effectively in an outdoor construction environment.Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn and follow directions.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in concrete finishing, including troweling, screeding, and floating.Proficiency using hand and power trowels for concrete finishing.Proficiency using hand and power screeds and floats to level concrete.Familiarity with operating a forklift on construction or production sites.Experience in assembly, production, or general labor in a construction setting.Attention to detail when checking forms, edges, and finished surfaces.Ability to work effectively as part of a crew and support team goals.Why Work Here?You will join a company that rewards hard work with overtime opportunities, advancement potential, and performance-based bonuses. You will be part of a close-knit crew of approximately 5–6 people, collaborating daily to complete concrete and construction tasks. Typical workweeks range from 45 to 50 hours, with overtime as needed based on project demands. The environment is fast-paced and physically demanding, involving frequent lifting, carrying, bending, and use of hand and power tools, as well as occasional forklift operation. Standard construction attire and appropriate personal protective equipment are required to maintain safety on-site.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Waterloo, IA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
