Engineer I - Water/Wastewater
Our Water/Wastewater team in Virginia Beach is looking for an Engineer I to join their team. In this role you will perform design and project delivery for water/wastewater projects, including water distribution, sewage collection systems, sewer separation, water and sewer treatment facilities and pumping stations. This is an opportunity to work with a team of experienced project managers in a truly collaborative environment to support our municipal clients.Essential FunctionsPrepare design calculations, drawings, and specifications for water and wastewater pipelines, treatment facilities and pumping stationsAssist with the preparation and review of technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, and miscellaneous contract documentsConduct technical evaluations to support planning and design related to water and wastewater systemsSupport field testing and investigations when requiredSupport construction projects with office engineering services (submittal review, contract document interpretation, requests for information, correspondence, change requests, and change orders) when requiredPrepare design calculations and drawings for incidental services to water / wastewater projects such as pump station and pipeline systemsProvide technical marketing support during the procurement of key projects as requested.Communicate effectively and coordinate with project teams including other disciplines, such as cost estimators, GIS, designers, and other engineers Required Skills And ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related engineering fieldZero (0) to five (5) years of experience in the study, design, and construction administration of water and wastewater conveyance and facilities infrastructure (pipelines, force mains, and pump stations)A self-starter, versatile and interested in working on a variety of projects supporting our Water and Wastewater GroupExcellent technical writing and communication skills requiredExcellent organizational and presentation skillsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Suite including Word, Outlook, Project, Excel and PowerPointPreferred Skills And ExperienceAutoCAD and MicroStation experience preferredOther DutiesThis job description indicates the general nature and levels of work, knowledge, skills, abilities and other essential functions (as covered under ADA) expected.
