R&D Technician

Placers is seeking a Research and Development Laboratory Technician in the Fabrics Division for our premier client site located in Elkton, MD. The primary focus of this role is to support the testing of various textiles in the testing labs. As a member of this team, you will support, influence, and participate in the testing needs for the labs and work closely with a diverse team to drive and accomplish team objectives The key responsibilities include: · Execution of lab testing needs, including but not be limited to: hands on testing, sample preparation, and troubleshooting · Seam sealing and sewing of laminate samples · Adherence to SOP’s, and willingness to support R&D special test requests · Communicate results and findings to project teams · Analyze and interpret data and accurately document results Required Qualifications: 1. BA/BS degree in textiles and apparel studies OR Experience with seam sealing and/or sewing equipment 2. Demonstrated experience using sewing and seam sealing equipment 3. Willingness to communicate with test requestors for special test request details, sampling discussions, lead time understanding, and retain needs after testing is complete 4. Perform R&D testing with timeliness and accuracy 5. Provide testing feedback to project teams proactively 6. Set priorities, effectively organize, and adapt to changing work environment 7. Basic knowledge of statistics and basic experience using JMP 8. Work independently as well as in a functional team environment 9. Experience using Excel, Power Point, and Word (or equivalent) required. 10. Demonstrated ability to follow detailed procedures such as ISO, AATCC, ASTM, etc. Desirable Job Qualifications: - Familiarity with textiles.
