EHS Engineer

FDRsafety is seeking an EHS Engineer for a large manufacturing client near Madison, IN. Summary: The EHS Engineer is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations and policies at the facility. This role involves developing, implementing, and supporting EHS programs that foster a safe and compliant workplace, reduce risk, and align with federal, state, and company standards. Key Responsibilities: Support and manage environmental programs including air, water, waste, chemical management, and emergency preparedness. Perform and coordinate industrial hygiene sampling, ergonomic assessments, and job safety analysis. Participate in hazard assessments and mitigation plans. Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable EHS regulations. Conduct regular audits, inspections, and assessments across the facility. Develop and deliver EHS training for employees and contractors. Support accident/incident investigations and root cause analysis; track corrective actions to closure. Maintain environmental reports, permit documentation, and regulatory submissions. Participate in emergency response planning and drills. Analyze safety data to identify trends and implement improvement strategies. Work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering to ensure EHS considerations are integrated into projects and daily operations. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field required. Minimum of 2 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting (internship or co-op experience may be considered). Strong understanding of EHS regulations and compliance programs. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team. Familiarity with safety tools, risk assessment methodologies, and industrial hygiene principles. Preferred Skills: EIT, CSP, CIH, or other relevant certifications a plus. Experience in process safety management (PSM) environments preferred. Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma or continuous improvement frameworks beneficial.
