Technical and Trade SchoolsElectrical Equipment ManufacturingElectric Power Generation, Transmission and DistributionBuilding Equipment ContractorsIndustrial Machinery ManufacturingWe’re looking for a Transformer Technician III Supervisor to lead field teams in transformer assembly, testing, and service for critical energy infrastructure projects across the U.S. This supervisory role involves overseeing all aspects of transformer installation and maintenance, including oil processing, component replacement, and field testing. You’ll play a hands-on role in complex service jobs while mentoring junior technicians and upholding RMS Energy’s high safety and quality standards.What You’ll DoSupervise transformer assembly, including radiators, bushings, conservators, and accessoriesLead degassing operations, pressure/vacuum testing, and oil sampling proceduresManage re-gasketing and O-ring fabrication, and installationOversee teardown and prep of damaged units for transport or disposalTroubleshoot and repair transformer control wiring and ensure safety and reliabilityConduct advanced transformer testing: Megger, TTR, SFRA, Power Factor, Core Ground, and passivation/system protection alarmsPerform OEM, utility, and customer-mandated electrical testsDocument and submit test results with a high degree of accuracyMaintain safe use and condition of tools, vehicles, and testing equipmentEnforce strict compliance with safety protocols, especially environmental containmentOperate construction and industrial equipment safely within load/capacity limitsFollow strict safety and PPE usage protocols due to noise, electrical hazards, and elevated work areasThe Experience We’re Looking For5–10 years of experience in transformer oil work, testing, assembly, or serviceExperience interpreting scopes, drawings, and technical documentsAdvanced Load Tap Changer experienceBasic proficiency with Microsoft Office and online platformsAdditional RequirementsWillingness to travel up to 80% across the continental U.S.High school diploma or GED Valid driver’s license Must pass a DOT physicalMust successfully complete a background check and pre-employment/random drug testsLegally authorized to work in the United StatesAvailable for extended and irregular hours, including weekends and holidaysPhysically capable of lifting 50+ lbs, working outdoors in all weather, at heights (100+ ft), in confined spaces, and around high-voltage equipmentRequires good vision, hearing, and English proficiency for safe, effective communication in noisy environmentsBonus Points ForPrior experience leading transformer service teamsUnderstanding of transformer oil testing procedures and reportingFamiliarity with transformer disposal preparation Knowledge of oil processing and degassing best practices Class A CDL, OSHA, and/ or TWIC cardTechnical training or certification in transformer repair or electrical systemsExperience with transformer testing software or OEM systemsWhy Join RMS EnergyWe’re not just another power services company.
