Senior Network Payroll Manager – Workday ImplementationJob Type: Temporary (12-Month Assignment)Pay Rate: $40-45/hourLocation: Hawthorne, NY | On-site (Monday-Friday)Job OverviewMadison Approach Staffing is recruiting for a Senior Network Payroll Manager to lead the Workday Payroll implementation for our client, a large healthcare network. This critical role requires someone who can jump in immediately with a high level of expertise in Microsoft applications and payroll integrations to support a major HRIS transformation. The ideal candidate will manage the full lifecycle implementation of Workday Payroll across multiple facilities, including configuration, testing, data migration, and go-live support. Strong expertise in payroll system integrations and advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Access, and other MS applications is essential for immediate impact. This is a 12-month contract assignment requiring minimal ramp-up time.Key ResponsibilitiesWorkday Implementation & Payroll IntegrationsLead and manage Workday Payroll implementation across healthcare network including configuration, testing, and deploymentDesign, configure, and test complex payroll integrations between Workday and third-party systems including benefits providers, 401k administrators, timekeeping systems, and general ledgerTroubleshoot and resolve integration issues using advanced technical skills and data analysisDevelop integration mapping documents and data flow diagramsCollaborate with implementation partners and IT team to ensure successful system integrationManage data migration and validation from legacy payroll systems to Workday using advanced Excel and database toolsConfiguration & TestingConfigure Workday Payroll module to meet multi-facility, multi-state healthcare payroll requirementsDevelop and execute comprehensive testing plans including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testingCreate complex Excel-based analysis tools for data validation and testingDocument payroll processes, procedures, and business rules in WorkdayPayroll Operations & ComplianceOversee ongoing payroll operations during implementation phase to ensure continuity and accuracyEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations across multiple jurisdictionsMaintain compliance with healthcare-specific requirements including union contracts, shift differentials, and on-call payEstablish controls and audit procedures using Microsoft applications for payroll accuracy and data integrityCoordinate with Finance for general ledger reconciliation and financial reportingStakeholder Management & TrainingPartner with HR, Finance, IT, and department leaders to align payroll processes with business objectivesLead change management efforts and communicate implementation progress to senior leadershipDevelop training programs and materials using Microsoft PowerPoint and other applicationsServe as subject matter expert for Workday Payroll and integration questionsRequired Skills & ExperienceMicrosoft Applications Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros, data analysis) and Access; strong skills in PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook (CRITICAL REQUIREMENT)Payroll Integrations: Extensive hands-on experience designing, configuring, testing, and troubleshooting payroll system integrations with benefits, 401k, timekeeping, GL, and other third-party systems (CRITICAL REQUIREMENT)Experience: 5-7+ years payroll management experience; multi-facility healthcare environment requiredWorkday Expertise: Hands-on experience with Workday Payroll configuration and implementationHRIS Implementation: Proven track record managing or participating in payroll system implementationsTechnical Skills: Strong data analysis and problem-solving abilities; ability to work with complex datasets and identify data integrity issuesMulti-State Compliance: Knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements across multiple statesHealthcare Payroll: Understanding of healthcare-specific payroll complexities including union contracts and complex benefit structuresImmediate Impact: Ability to jump in with minimal ramp-up time and make immediate contributionsCommunication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to explain technical integration conceptsPreferred Skills & ExperienceCertified Payroll Professional (CPP) designationWorkday Payroll certificationExperience with Workday Time Tracking and Absence Management integrationsSQL or database query experienceAPI and middleware integration experienceExperience with Epic or other healthcare clinical systemsPrior experience leading enterprise-wide HRIS transformationsPMP or similar project management certification
