Maintenance Manger - Wood Manufacturing Plant

Maintenance Manager Our client is looking for a Maintenance Manager for a wood manufacturing facility. This is a senior-level position responsible for maximizing equipment uptime, safety, and operational efficiency. This role involves building a maintenance program from the ground up, leading maintenance teams, implementing preventative/predictive maintenance, and managing the maintenance budget. Job Summary: The Maintenance Manager oversees all mechanical and electrical maintenance operations, including troubleshooting, repair, and installation of complex woodworking equipment. They are critical to reducing downtime in a high-volume, high-speed manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities: Asset Reliability: Develop and implement a comprehensive asset management strategy, including Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) and predictive maintenance (PdM) to reduce unplanned downtime. Leadership: Direct and manage maintenance technicians, providing training, coaching, and performance management. Preventative Maintenance (PM): Create, manage, and audit the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to ensure all machinery (saws, conveyors, hydraulic press) is serviced on time. Safety & Compliance: Act as a safety role model by enforcing LOTO (Lockout/Tagout), machine guarding, and OSHA standards to ensure a safe, compliant work environment. Budget & Cost Management: Manage the departmental budget, including spare parts inventory, and control costs to meet financial goals. Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with operations and engineering to implement capital projects and identify opportunities for equipment upgrades that improve performance. Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Lead RCA efforts for equipment failures to prevent recurrence. Qualifications: Experience: Minimum 3–5+ years of experience in industrial maintenance management, with preference for experience in a wood products assembly environment. Technical Skills: Strong understanding of industrial equipment (hydraulics, pneumatic, conveyor systems, CNC) and PLCs (Control Logix, Siemens, etc.). Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical) or Technical Field is preferred, though equivalent, extensive experience will be considered. Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). Soft Skills: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team in a fast-paced environment. Typical Working Conditions: High-speed, often noisy, and dusty manufacturing environment. Requirement to work flexible hours, including on-call for weekends, nights.
