RK&K's Construction Engineering Inspection and Construction Management Division is hiring a CEI Inspector to join our team in East Tennessee. As a CEI Inspector with RK&K you will strengthen our Construction Engineering and Inspection team while performing routine inspections on projects including highway, bridge, design/design-build projects. Opportunities for growth and training into construction management and office engineering careers.Essential FunctionsProvide construction management support, including inspection, testing, and monitoring of construction ensure compliance with contract documentsFully engage in solving intermediate problems to provide evaluation and sound solutionsMonitor the activities of other inspectorsAbility to communicate effectively across different platforms with project management, clients, stakeholders, and contractorsInterface with clients, state and federal agencies, and other engineering disciplines on construction projectsRecordkeeping, materials testing, and reporting as requiredMust possess high integrity and ethics in all aspects of dealing with clients, subconsultants, and peers Required Skills And ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent Three (3) + years of progressive experience in roadway and structures constructionWorking knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering and construction methods, materials, and equipment.Ability to understand, explain, and administer contracts; and interpret construction plans, provisions, standards, and specificationsAbility to train, coordinate, and supervise entry level inspection technicians in the fieldTravel to job sites is expected, clean driving recordPreferred Skills And ExperienceSkilled in both roadway and bridge constructionSurvey experienceRequired TDOT certificationsPhysical DemandsThis role requires the ability to perform field inspections on active construction sites. The employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, navigate uneven terrain, and climb ladders or stairs. Ability to lift and carry inspection equipment and materials weighing up to 20-30 pounds on an occasional basis, with or without reasonable accommodation.
