Neuberger is looking for a curious and motivated Junior Python Developer to join our growing engineering team. You'll help build reliable, scalable server-side applications in a modern, AI-augmented development environment — leveraging cutting-edge tools to work smarter, ship cleaner code, and grow fast.If you're comfortable writing clean Python, have hands-on experience with containerized workflows, and are genuinely excited about the future of AI-assisted development, we want to hear from you.What You'll DoSoftware DevelopmentBuild and implement server-side features, modules, and components in Python following clean code and best practice standardsCollaborate with product and design teams to translate business requirements into well-structured, maintainable codeParticipate in code reviews — giving and receiving constructive feedbackAI-Augmented DevelopmentUse AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Claude, etc.) responsibly to accelerate development, improve code quality, and reduce repetitive boilerplateApply a working understanding of LLMs — tokenization, context windows, prompt construction, and model limitations — to integrate them sensiblyIdentify the right use cases for AI tooling vs. traditional logic, and flag risks like hallucinated outputs or sensitive data exposureContainerized & Cloud-Aware DevelopmentWrite and maintain Dockerfiles and work within containerized development environmentsApply core container concepts: images, containers, volumes, networking, and basic orchestration (Docker Compose, Kubernetes/OpenShift)Contribute to deployable, environment-consistent application packagingAgile ScrumParticipate in sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and reviewsBreak down user stories into actionable tasks and deliver working software within sprint timelinesMaintain transparency with the team on progress, blockers, and dependenciesQuality & TestingWrite and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure reliability and regression safetyDebug and resolve defects from testing or production monitoringCollaborate with QA to develop test cases and uphold software qualityWhat You BringPython: 3+ years of hands-on experienceFrameworks: Proficiency in Flask, FastAPI, or DjangoAI Tools: Working experience with GitHub Copilot, Claude, or comparable LLM-based coding assistantsLLM Awareness: Understanding of tokens, context, prompting, limitations, and responsible useContainers: Hands-on Docker experience — build, run, and debug containerized applicationsVersion Control: Proficient with Git (branching, PRs, rebasing)Testing: Ability to write meaningful unit tests; familiarity with pytest or similarORM: Working knowledge of SQLAlchemy, Django ORM, or equivalentBonus PointsFamiliarity with Kubernetes, OpenShift, or container orchestration conceptsExposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)Experience calling or integrating LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI)Understanding of RAG patterns or vector storesBasic front-end literacy: JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3Familiarity with server-side templating (e.g., Jinja2)Understanding of async or multi-process architecture (asyncio, multiprocessing)Work modelLocation: New York City; hybrid with a minimum of two days per week in office.Applicants must be authorized and have the right to work in the country where the role is located without the need for current or future sponsorship.Compensation DetailsThe salary range for this role in Illinois is $90,000-$110,000 and the salary range for the role in New York is $90,000-$110,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, business sector, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, market benchmarking data, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for a discretionary bonus, which, along with base salary and retirement contributions, is part of our total comprehensive package. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, retirement, life insurance and other benefits to eligible employees.Note: No amount of pay is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable.
