Processing and Programmer Specialist
O'Neal Steel currently has an opening for a Processing & Programmer Specialist at our Mobile, AL facility.Are you a technically driven professional? We're looking for a Processing & Programmer Specialist to join our team.This role owns processed orders from quote through production and shipment. It combines programming, hands-on processing support, and order coordination to drive efficient execution, improve throughput, and maximize profitability. This position serves as the link between sales, operations, and the shop floor to ensure work is quoted accurately, produced efficiently, and delivered on time.In This Role You WillAnalyze prints to determine production methods, machine time, costs, and lead timesSupport inside sales with quotes and pricing for processed workProgram machines and optimize nesting for yield and efficiencyTroubleshoot programming and machine issues as neededMonitor quality, tolerances, and job flow during productionCoordinate orders with operations, vendors, and sales to meet delivery timelinesExpedite orders and resolve issues impacting production or shipmentIdentify opportunities to improve throughput, reduce scrap, and increase efficiencyFollow and promote all safety policies and procedures in the processing environmentWhat You Will BringHigh school diplomaDemonstrated experience in reading and interpreting blueprintsProgramming experience (plasma/oxyfuel/laser) preferredExperience with CAD/nesting software (e.g., SigmaNEST, ProNest, AutoCAD)Experience in manufacturing or steel processingStrong problem-solving skillsEffective communication skills, both oral and written across multiple departmentsAbility to communicate and work effectively across multiple departments including outside contacts and vendorsWhat Success Looks LikeSafety is top of mind and priority #1Accurate and profitable quotesEfficient programs with minimal reworkSmooth flow from quote → programming → production → shipmentConsistent achievement of lead times (3-5 days where applicable)Improved machine utilization and reduced scrapMust be able to work 1st shift (8:00AM-5:00PM) Monday - Friday.
