Land Survey Intern - Temporary
This position assists in support work such as surveying or engineering data collection, operating data collection equipment, and other entry-level support work. The role is designed for students enrolled in an engineering, surveying or related science degree program.This position is responsible for assisting our surveyor with in-office and field work.Work is performed and duties are carried out in accordance with established policies, procedures, and Borough core values: Accountability, Customer Focus, Dedication, Integrity, Responsiveness and Teamwork.Please Note: This is a temporary summer position. This assignment will start May 4, 2026 or after and end October 30, 2026 or sooner depending on new fiscal year funding starting July 1, 2026.I1 - DOECurrently enrolled in an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited surveying, civil engineering, geomatics, or related degree program.Prior experience in computer mapping, drafting or graphics is preferred.Possession of or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire, a valid driver's license issued by the State of Alaska for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen and physical.Collect and accurately record field measurements and observations in various environmental and terrain conditions.Conduct research by gathering and analyzing materials such as deeds, plats, easements, GIS datasets, aerial imagery, and historical surveys.Prepare maps, charts, plats, and legal descriptions for reports and project documentation.Responsible for field equipment inventory management, organization and maintenance.Develop spreadsheets, databases, and other electronic documents.Gather basic data and assist with routine statistical analysis.Perform data entry and computer-aided analysis.Use drafting equipment and perform hand or computer-aided drafting.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
