Mortgage Processor
Description:Kellogg Community Credit Union has an exciting opportunity for a Mortgage Processor role!
The Mortgage Processor role is a critical position for the organization as it assists the organization in achieving sales, service, and operational goals. The position is responsible for processing all real estate loan files including first mortgage and home equity loan applications from initial submission through closing. The Mortgage Processor ensures complete, accurate, and compliant loan files by collecting and reviewing documentation, ordering third-party services, and communicating with borrowers, loan officers, underwriters, and title companies. This role supports timely loan approvals while maintaining excellent service and adherence to regulatory and investor guidelines.
Responsibilities:
Process and manage a high volume of first mortgage loan files from application through closing, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with all regulatory requirements
Support the processing of home equity loans and home equity lines of credit (HELOCs), including setup, maintenance, and servicing needs
Order, review, and clear title work, appraisals, flood certifications, and other required third-party documentation
Prepare and verify loan documentation, ensuring all required supporting materials meet underwriting and investor guidelines
Establish and maintain escrow accounts, including accurate setup, calculations, and basic escrow analysis
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and investor regulations related to mortgage and home equity products
Coordinate and communicate effectively with Loan Officers, underwriters, closing teams, and borrowers to facilitate timely loan processing
Monitor and manage loan pipelines and processing queues to meet service level expectations and closing deadlines
Assist with loan closings, including document preparation, review, and funding coordination
Handle recordings, discharges, and post-closing activities for mortgage and home equity loans
Identify and escalate operational or processing issues to management as needed
Deliver accurate, professional, and responsive service to internal teams and borrowers throughout the loan lifecycle
Perform additional duties and provide cross-functional support as assigned
Requirements:High school diploma or GED
Associate or bachelors degree in finance, business, or a related field preferred
13 years in mortgage processing, loan administration, or banking
Familiarity with different loan types (conventional, FHA, VA, USDA)
Experience with loan origination software
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook)
Ability to analyze credit reports, income docs, and tax returns
Strong attention to detail
Time management and ability to multi-task
Clear communication with members and internal teams
Problem-solving and follow-up skills
