Board Member – Fundraising & Development (Voting Director)
Bloom Again Foundation believes that economically vulnerable working women should have the same opportunity to heal from a medical challenge as do their wealthier counterparts. As an all volunteer grassroots organization, we are focused on identifying women in need and providing support for rent, food, utilities and transportation to and from medical appointments. It achieves this mission in an efficient and economically reasonably way by partnering with well-established social services agencies and care providers in the community to identify women who meet our criteria for funding. That criteria includes (1) being employed for the past two years; (2)currently living at or near the poverty level; (3) having received an acute recent diagnosis that requires the woman to miss work and lose income; (3) having no other sources of financial income; and (4) intends to return to work as soon as medically advisable. Once approved as a partner, designated individuals may apply for a grant on behalf of a woman in need. Within 24 hours of grant application, the Board makes a decision and remittance for approved applications are sent directly to landlords, utility companies, or in the form of food cards. Our system ensures the women are appropriately vetted at the partner level and their needs are met in a timely fashion. Board Members are responsible for fundraising and friendraising to ensure grant funding is available when needed. In over 15 years no woman meeting the criteria for funding has been denied a grant.,OverviewThe Board Member – Fundraising & Development serves as a voting member of the Bloom Again Foundation Board of Directors and provides strategic leadership and oversight related to fundraising strategy, donor engagement, resource development, and revenue sustainability. This role strengthens the Board’s governance capacity by supporting diversified funding streams, cultivating donor relationships, and ensuring ethical and compliant fundraising practices aligned with the organization’s mission and strategic plan. This is a volunteer governance position.
