Process Control EngineerLocation: Oglethorpe, GA (Macon County) Employment Type: Full-time, Salaried Compensation: $106,700 – $130,500 (based on experience) Benefits: Full (Medical, Dental, Life, Disability, 401(k), PTO, etc.)About the RoleProcess Control Engineer to provide automation and controls support within our Oglethorpe, GA pulp mill. This position is responsible for improving control system performance, supporting capital and maintenance projects, and driving process optimization to ensure safety, reliability, and operational excellence.Key ResponsibilitiesDefine project scope, goals, and deliverables aligned with mill safety, reliability, and improvement initiatives.Provide process control support to capital and maintenance projects—evaluate, implement, and test control strategies.Lead performance improvement in process control metrics such as alarms, operator interventions, and control utilization.Develop, maintain, and implement advanced process control applications, optimization solutions, and alarm databases.Collaborate with Operators, Engineers, and Technicians to troubleshoot, tune, and enhance control loops (Honeywell DCS, Emerson DeltaV).Guide weekly priorities for the Process Control Application Technician (PCAT) in assigned operating areas.Train Operations, I&E Maintenance, and Technical personnel on control systems and best practices.Support mill-wide quality efforts and uphold IP's quality policy for a consistent customer experience.QualificationsMinimum Requirements:Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.2–5 years of experience in process control engineering.Knowledge of control systems such as Honeywell DCS and Emerson DeltaV, PLCs, field instrumentation, and industrial communication networks.Strong understanding of control systems theory and application.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in pulp and paper, process control, project engineering, maintenance, or operations .Leadership experience with cross-functional teams or project groups.Proficiency in loop tuning and control optimization.Excellent planning, organization, and communication skills.
