The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Applications team in providing technical support, writing applications notes, setting up lab equipment to analyze and recreate customer system problems, issuing device / data sheet errata, embedded firmware debug/development, assist with customer deliverables, and providing technical support. Candidate must be able to work independently, and in a team environment.ResponsibilitiesAssist with SAS/SATA/NVMe Protocol, RAID controller embedded firmware, OS drivers, and management softwareSupport PCIe, security, and encryption technologiesAssist with customer and ODM requirements, design win support, deliverables, and initial system bring-up activitiesSupport channel customers, ecosystem partners, and distribution teamsSetup and maintain system compatibility and debug labMaintain knowledge base & issue tracking databasePerform code updatesWork independently, and in a team environmentAssist with root cause & documenting customer issues in a timely mannerDevelop and review customer level documentation including user guides, release notes, technical product training, and application notesRequirements/QualificationsCurrently pursuing a BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer EngineeringCoursework, academic projects, or internship experience in applications or software developmentBasic understanding of computer architectureScripting or automation knowledge (Python, Java, Tcl, other)SW programming experience (Java and C)Experience with installing OSes (Linux and Windows), setting up hardware and driversGood writing and communication skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience with driver development / embedded FW developmentExperience with Java NetBeans or Tcl/Tk scripting language is an assetFamiliarity with storage and protocols such as NVME, SAS/SATA, SCSI, TCP/IP is an assetFamiliarity with high-speed design and signal integrity concepts is an assetExperience with board-level debug & bring-upTravel TimeNo TravelPhysical AttributesFeeling, Handling, Hearing, Seeing, Talking, Works Around OthersPhysical Requirements10% Standing, 10% Walking, 80% Sitting, 100% Inside-Monday-FridayMicrochip Technology Inc is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
