Packaging Engineer
Role: Packaging EngineerLocation: Fremont, CAJD:What You’ll DoLead end-to-end engineered packaging projects for Vehicle and Energy platformsInterface with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, New Product Introduction, and Operations partners to gather and develop packaging requirementsPartner with Supply Chain and Logistics to drive projects to enable the most efficient delivery of parts possible without sacrificing part quality or manufacturabilityProvide design direction and development plans of protective packaging containers, dunnage and unique shipping racks – domestic and internationalApply industrial design techniques of CAD, technical drawings, including datum structure, GD&T and tolerance stack up analysisMonitor KPI’s and work with Packaging Design Engineers to develop world-class packaging standards and continue to improve upon themDrive expendable to returnable projects and participate in sustainability initiatives; Manage project budgets, risks, and change management; Assist in vendor selection and vendor managementWhat You’ll BringBachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Packaging, Industrial Design, or equivalent work experience with evidence of exceptional abilityWorking knowledge of CAD, and technical drawings, including datum structure, GD&T and tolerance stack up analysisFamiliarity with manufacturing processes including machining, welding, injection molding etc.Strong knowledge in a large variety of materials (aluminum, steel, composites, foam, etc.); Experience with designing to standards such as ASTM, Mil-Spec, etc.Strong understanding of packaging testing and validation; Capable of managing multiple priorities at once without sacrificing quality of resultsProficient at-risk management and communication; Team player with strong process and continuous improvement mindsetTravel up to 30% required
