This role requires strong assessment skills, clinical judgment, and the ability to respond quickly to changing patient conditions in a step-down environment.Clinical ResponsibilitiesProvide direct patient care in a PCU/Step-Down settingMonitor and manage patients with cardiac and medical-surgical conditionsPerform ongoing patient assessments and implement care plansAdminister medications and IV therapiesCollaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomesAssist with discharge planning and patient educationSupervise and provide direction to LPNs, CNAs, and support staffFloat to Med-Surg unit as needed based on staffing requirementsPatient PopulationCardiac patients (pre/post PCI, pacemaker, revascularization)Post-surgical cases (thoracotomy, carotid endarterectomy)Chronic and acute conditions including CHF, COPD, DKA, renal failure, sepsis, DVT, PEClinical Skills & EquipmentCardiac telemetry and EKG interpretationVentilator support (invasive and non-invasive)Central lines, arterial lines (A-lines), chest tubesNasogastric tubes and continuous bladder irrigationMultiple IV pumps and infusion therapiesCommon MedicationsHeparinDiltiazemDobutamineMilrinoneAmiodaroneDopamineRequirementsActive RN License (must be in good standing)Minimum 3 years of recent PCU / Step-Down or Critical Care experienceBLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications requiredPediatric experience preferredPost heart catheterization experience preferredTNCC and ENPC certifications preferredAdditional DetailsEMR System: MeditechHoliday coverage requiredOn-call may be requiredOvertime applicable after 40 hours/weekKey CompetenciesStrong clinical assessment and critical thinkingAbility to manage patients with varying acuity levelsLeadership and delegation skillsEffective communication in a multidisciplinary environmentPatterns Hiring Job ID #296475-5.
