AWS Cloud Engineer
Role: AWS Cloud ConsultantLocation: San Juan, FL (Hybrid/Onsite Preferred) Duration: Longterm Description: Position Overview We are seeking a highly experienced AWS Cloud Engineer with strong infrastructure engineering expertise to support enterprise-scale cloud initiatives and secure infrastructure operations. This role is focused on hands-on AWS infrastructure management, network connectivity, VPN administration, server configuration, cloud security, and serverless architecture implementation. This is NOT a DevOps-focused role. The ideal candidate should have deep practical experience building and maintaining cloud infrastructure environments rather than CI/CD pipeline automation or release engineering. The candidate will work closely with infrastructure teams, security teams, and application stakeholders to design, deploy, maintain, and optimize scalable and secure AWS cloud environments. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain secure AWS cloud infrastructure environmentsConfigure and manage AWS networking components including: VPCsRoute TablesNAT GatewaysSecurity GroupsTransit GatewaysVPN Connections Build and maintain site-to-site VPN and secure remote connectivity solutionsAdminister Linux and Windows servers within cloud and hybrid environmentsPerform infrastructure hardening and server security configurationsManage IAM roles, policies, access controls, and cloud security best practicesImplement and support serverless architectures using AWS Lambda and related AWS servicesMonitor infrastructure performance, availability, and security complianceTroubleshoot infrastructure, networking, connectivity, and server-related issuesSupport disaster recovery and backup strategies for AWS environmentsCollaborate with cybersecurity and enterprise infrastructure teamsMaintain infrastructure documentation, diagrams, and operational proceduresParticipate in infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and cloud modernization initiatives Required Skills & Qualifications 8+ years of infrastructure engineering and cloud administration experienceStrong hands-on expertise with AWS cloud infrastructure servicesDeep understanding of: EC2VPCIAMRoute 53CloudWatchS3LambdaAPI GatewayAWS VPN Extensive experience configuring and managing VPN environmentsStrong Linux and Windows server administration experienceExperience with server hardening, patching, and security configurationsHands-on experience implementing serverless architectures and integrationsStrong understanding of networking concepts: TCP/IPDNSFirewallsRoutingLoad Balancing Experience supporting production infrastructure environmentsStrong troubleshooting and infrastructure support skillsAbility to work independently in fast-paced enterprise environments Preferred Qualifications AWS Certifications preferred: AWS Certified Solutions ArchitectAWS SysOps AdministratorAWS Advanced Networking Specialty Experience in utility, energy, or large enterprise environments is a plusFamiliarity with hybrid cloud infrastructure modelsKnowledge of infrastructure compliance and security standards Nice to Have Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormationBasic scripting knowledge using Python, Bash, or PowerShellExperience with monitoring and logging platformsExposure to enterprise identity and access management systems What We Are Looking For We need a true infrastructure-focused AWS engineer who understands real-world enterprise cloud operations, networking, security, and server administration.
