TITLE: Paraprofessional Level IICLASSIFICATION: ClassifiedQUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma (Minimum)REPORTS TO: Special Education Teacher, Building Principal, TLEC AdministrationJOB GOAL: This position is responsible for assisting a teacher in providing specialized instruction to individuals or smallgroups of students with functional and/or behavior challenges.ESSENTIAL SKILLS And ABILITIES Knowledge of and ability to implement de-escalation techniques Knowledge of and ability to implement behavior management techniques Knowledge of intensive behavior intervention techniques Ability to monitor and observe student behavior according to approved policies and procedures Ability to develop rapport and interact effectively with students Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing Ability to handle emotionally charged situations Ability to interact and collaborate with staff, students, and families in a professional manner Ability to maintain confidentiality Skill or ability to learn the delivery and use of online learning programs as needed per school assignmentPerformance Responsibilities Assists in providing instruction to behaviorally challenged individuals or small groups of students, reinforcinginstruction as directed by the teacher. Administers one-to-one intensive behavior interventions to students. Actively participates in behavior intervention meetings and professional development Collects data and records anecdotal student progress notes and maintains behavioral charting data. Monitors, observes, and reports behavior of students according to approved procedures, including progressregarding student performance and behavior. Communicates with teachers regarding programs and materials to meet student needs. Follows health and safety practices and regulations. Assists students in developing self-help and self-advocacy skills as directed. Provide instructional support in the area of independent living skills such as cooking, laundry, general personalhygiene, and cleanliness. Support the implementation of necessary visual supports and modifications to the instructional environment tofacilitate student engagement in all settings. Supports/assists students that are medically fragile or have moderate to significant physical needs. Assists in implementing specialized student plans (IEP, BIP), as needed. Directs student group activities as assigned. Provides assistance with de-escalating student behaviors and reintegration back into the classroom. Follows cooperative and assigned district policies and procedures. Completes other duties as assigned.Term of Employment: 9 monthSalary Range: Salary and work year to be determined by the TLEC board.
