Insurance Defense Billing ClerkA-M Law is looking to add a motivated and detail-oriented Billing Clerk. The Billing Clerk will be a key member of the A-M Law Support Staff, working closely with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff to ensure the accuracy, formatting, and completeness of client invoices.The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the litigation process and possess the ability to review attorney time entries for accuracy, proper formatting, clarity, and compliance with client billing guidelines. This role is critical in helping maximize billing efficiency by identifying omissions, correcting narrative descriptions, and ensuring all billable work is properly captured and reflected on invoices.Location: Bloomfield Hills, MI | Hybrid Experience: Minimum of one year of professional services experience in a law firm or similar environment. Prior experience in a law firm, legal support role, paralegal position, legal billing, or insurance defense environment is required. Prior experience as a Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary in Insurance Defense will be beneficial. Recent Paralegal and Legal Studies graduates are encouraged to apply. This position is responsible for reviewing attorney time entries, proofreading billing narratives, correcting formatting, and identifying additional billable activities that may have been omitted during the course of litigation.The Billing Clerk will work directly with attorneys and firm operations staff to review case activity and prepare invoices for submission. A successful candidate will develop a working understanding of litigation workflows, court procedures, discovery processes, motion practice, depositions, hearings, and trial preparation in order to accurately review and support attorney billing.QualificationsAt least one year of experience working within a law firm or law firm environment Prior exposure to litigation, insurance defense, legal billing, paralegal work, or legal administration is required.Experience using TABS Billing, PracticeMaster, or similar legal billing software is preferredUnderstanding of litigation processes and legal terminology is requiredMust be willing to work in-office. Hybrid or remote scheduling will be available following an initial employment period and is determined on a case-by-case basis.Experience in insurance defense is preferred.Ability to work independently.
