The Welder is a key position in the Company and will support and contribute to the company goals of profitability, return on investment, inventory turnover, and accident prevention. The Welder, under direct supervision by Team Leader or Supervisor, welds non-critical fabricated parts and subassemblies as specified by blueprints, layouts or welding procedures. Welds are performed on non-critical parts or subassemblies where cosmetics may not be a factor.Core Competencies For This Position IncludeLearningPeople RelationsCommunicationPosition/Tech KnowledgeResults DrivenEssential Functions Of The JobFocus, communicate, encourage and contribute to Safety in all aspects of the job and all company meetings Adjusts and operates welding equipment to perform non-critical welds on fabricated parts and subassemblies. Maintains production quantities, efficiencies and quality on parts weldedLoads fabricated parts or subassemblies into jigs and fixtures. Prepares the surface to be welded by grinding, buffing or brushing so the weld can be performed. Visually examines welds for adherence to blueprint specificationsMaintains welding equipment and makes adjustments on equipment to prepare it to weld different parts or subassemblies when changing from one part to the otherLoads and unloads fixturesPerforms simple measurements using devices or gauges to check workMay skip weld designed parts to secure pieces for other weldersPerform all other duties assigned by the SupervisorKnowledge, Skills And Abilities (KSA’s)Ability to understand and follow simple instructionsCapable of performing standard measurementsKnowledge of basic procedures of mig welding requiredAbility to lift, push or pull 50 pounds alone and 100 pounds with assistanceMust be able to speak, hear and see to perform duties to communicate and build subassembliesMust be able to demonstrate required knowledge and ability to read blueprints with weld symbols and specificationsEducation And ExperienceHigh School diploma or GED requiredMinimum 3 months to 1 year experience in welding requiredWorking ConditionsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
