The Welder is a key position in the Company and will support and contribute to the company goals of profitability, return on investment, inventory turnover, and accident prevention. The Welder, under direct supervision by Team Leader or Supervisor, welds non-critical fabricated parts and subassemblies as specified by blueprints, layouts or welding procedures. Maintains production quantities, efficiencies and quality on parts weldedLoads fabricated parts or subassemblies into jigs and fixtures. Prepares the surface to be welded by grinding, buffing or brushing so the weld can be performed. Visually examines welds for adherence to blueprint specificationsMaintains welding equipment and makes adjustments on equipment to prepare it to weld different parts or subassemblies when changing from one part to the otherLoads and unloads fixturesPerforms simple measurements using devices or gauges to check workMay skip weld designed parts to secure pieces for other weldersPerform all other duties assigned by the SupervisorKnowledge, Skills And Abilities (KSA’s)Ability to understand and follow simple instructionsCapable of performing standard measurementsKnowledge of basic procedures of mig welding requiredAbility to lift, push or pull 50 pounds alone and 100 pounds with assistanceMust be able to speak, hear and see to perform duties to communicate and build subassembliesMust be able to demonstrate required knowledge and ability to read blueprints with weld symbols and specificationsEducation And ExperienceHigh School diploma or GED requiredMinimum 3 months to 1 year experience in welding requiredWorking ConditionsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
