Financial Engineering is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to design, implement and maintain software applications that enable measuring and managing the risk of our loan and investment portfolio. The software enables all lines of business to run computationally intensive models on a highly scalable, cloud-based environment (>10K cores) which provide business critical data and analytics.Our impact:We partner with various modeling teams (Single Family, Multi Family and Investments) that are responsible for the firm's credit and interest rate risk modelsWe build financial model applications and risk management tools that make these models available for business useWe ensure that our systems are robust, scalable and fault-tolerantYour impact:As a full stack developer (preferably polyglot), you will bring strong technical skills and the ability to design, propose, implement and deliver high quality productsEnhance existing design and improve code quality and system efficiencyBuild reusable and scalable frameworks to enable other developers to solve problems at a high level of abstraction (API/Library/Service)Provide strong technical leadership to other junior members of the teamBuild partnerships with modeling, Information Technology and business teamsQualifications:Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related technical field and 5-8 years of experience developing software applications, including experience with each of the following:A strong understanding of software engineering principles - design, development and operationsDay to day hands on full stack developer - Java, Python and AWSExperience building resilient and scalable software that is easily portable to various computing infrastructures - on-prem, cloudAbility to motivate, teach and train other team membersExperience in the financial industry, especially mortgagesExposure to quantitative finance and data scienceExposure to Big Data technologiesKeys to Success in this Role:Curious mind setPassionate about hands-on software developmentStrong collaboration and communication skills (both written and verbal)Desire to continuously improve the technical quality and architecture of our systems to respond to business needsAbility to quickly learn, apply and deploy new technologies to solve emerging problems
