Job DescriptionAmerican Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Normal, Illinois.Job Description & RequirementsSpecialty: Med SurgDiscipline: RNStart Date: 06/01/2026Duration: 13 weeks36 hours per weekShift: 12 hours, nightsEmployment Type: TravelAssignment OverviewShift: Nights, 3x12hrsHours: 36 hrs/wkStart Date: Jun 1, 2026Length: 13 weeksOpenings: 1DescriptionAmerican Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Clinical Resource Unit (Float Pool) position in Normal, IL, requiring Epic EMR experience and a minimum of one year of relevant nursing experience.DetailsFloat pool position within a hospital inpatient setting, covering multiple units including Medical-Oncology, Surgical-Orthopedic, Cardiovascular Care Unit, Progressive Care Unit, Mental Health Unit, and Acute RehabPatient population includes acute and chronically ill patients with diagnoses such as coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, dysrhythmia, congestive heart failure, stroke, cancer, cellulitis, post-surgical care, and chest painPerforms specialized skills including IV venipuncture, blood administration, medication administration, and post-operative care managementDocuments all patient care using Epic EMRNight shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 3 days per week, 36 hours per weekWeekend shifts on a rotation basisMay float to other Carle Health system hospitals in addition to home unitRequirementsActive IL RN license required; temporary license acceptedBLS certification (AHA) requiredMinimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience requiredEpic EMR experience requiredCollege diploma in nursing (or equivalent) requiredCandidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this positionAdditional InformationFloats to various inpatient units and provides care to diverse patient populations across the health systemResponsible for completing assessments, developing and modifying care plans, administering medications, and educating patients and families on care and discharge instructionsDelegates patient care tasks to HCTs and validates completion of delegated tasks throughout the shiftConducts bedside shift reports, hourly rounding, and maintains patient communication boardsCollaborates with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate and deliver high-quality patient careHoliday coverage required on a rotation basisRTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contractContingent workers may not remain on continuous assignment at Carle Health for more than 1 year; a 6-month break in service is required before returning to any Carle Health location after reaching the 1-year markAmerican Traveler Job ID #P-701619.
