HVAC Technician
Job DescriptionThe candidate must be a Union Technician. Competency Roles and Responsibilities:Have a basic understanding of the mechanical, electrical, energy management and electronic components to operate and drive HVAC and Refrigeration equipment, including but not limited to RTUs, mini-split systems, racks, condensing units and self-contained refrigeration equipment.Install equipment or parts and perform general maintenance on both HVAC and Refrigeration equipment.Customer-based activities that require an individual possessing traits of decisiveness, initiative, tact, judgment, integrity, dependability, and the ability to communicate in a credible manner.Serving as a member of the STR team displaying timely, efficient and profitable accomplishment of assigned jobs and tasks.Performing supervised and unsupervised basic HVAC/R tasks, i.e. changing filters, coil washing, and basic troubleshooting of equipment.Additional Responsibilities:Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.Perform progressively more difficult technical roles as time progresses.Job Qualifications:The company is a Contractor with Local 455 and Local 539. Must be willing to join the union if not already a member.Must have completed or be in the process of completing a 2-year degree in HVAC/R.Must be EPA certified for handling refrigerant.Must have a PLT license or be registered with the state as a Registered Unlicensed PLT, or apply for your Registered Unlicensed PLT within 90 days of your start date.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, along with a neat and clean appearance.Ability to work efficiently given time pressures, non-standard schedules, extreme weather conditions, varying customer needs and demands, and back-log constraints.Knowledge and proven skills in accurately diagnosing and efficiently accomplishing a job to the mutual benefit of the customer and the organization.Mechanical ability and excellent problem-solving skills.Current driver’s license.Interest and initiative in maintaining HVAC and Refrigeration skills through a combination of self-study, workshops, and other development activities.Physical Requirements:Ability to lift up to 100 pounds as necessary and up to 50 pounds repetitively.Ability to climb up and down a ladder carrying tools, equipment, and/or parts in a safe manner.Benefits:Full union benefits (see Local 455 and Local 539) & sick pay.Union wage scale and benefits depending on experience and licenses.Year-round, full-time employment — stability you can count on.Paid weekly — no waiting for your hard-earned money.Cutting-edge, technology-driven company — stay ahead of the industry with the latest tools and systems.Being a valued & appreciated team member of a premier family-owned company.EEO/AA/M/F/Vets/Disabled
