Tulsa is looking for an Anchor/ Investigative Reporter to join our team. We are seeking a motivated, energetic, creative, and aggressive reporter who can think and perform outside the box. The ideal candidate should be able to dig for a story, research it, write it with an edge, and use strong storytelling and TV production to make it impactful and memorable. They should be able to develop story ideas and gather information for newscasts, have sound writing skills, a great work ethic, and a can-do attitude. The best person for this job will have excellent live shot skills, thrives on breaking stories, and from both the field and the anchor desk, provide a strong on-camera presence who speaks clearly and effectively with confidence.No day will look the same as an Investigative Reporter however, the main responsibilities of the role will include:Create, gather, and write meaningful stories for station newscasts, websites, and social media platforms Write online versions of investigative reports and work with Digital Investigative Producer on "web extra" content for each investigationDevelop and maintain contacts and sources in the community to enterprise story ideasIdentify and pitch investigative angles to big daily news storiesDevelop a network of sources and experts to generate investigative stories on a regular basisProvide news on-air as directed by the news management teamReview material for fairness, accuracy, and balanceWork closely with all members of the news team, which would include Producers, Editors, Anchors, News Managers, etc.As an anchor:Deliver a strong, engaging presence from the deskPractice solid research and fact-checking Show the ability to write and edit scripts effectively and efficientlyHave strong interviewing skillsCommunicate clearly on-air to viewers and behind-the-scenes with producersAdditionally, This Person Should…Have proven knowledge and experience working with current media creation tools and contemporary newsroom systemsDynamic live television and storytelling skills are a mustStrong social media skillset for both research and promoting stories as well as gathering viewer inputMust be able to develop and maintain sourcesStrong writing skills and knowledge of current eventsInvestigative reporting experience preferredPossess strong writing and copy-editing skills Have 3 years of experience as a ReporterHold a bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field preferredBe Able to work well under pressure to meet strict deadlinesThe ability to shoot and/or edit when called uponPlease include a link that contains both reporting and anchoringSinclair is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and a drug free workplace.
