Inspector IV

Inspector IV In this exciting role as an Inspector IV at Medtronic, Fort Worth, you will have responsibility for performing advanced incoming and in-process inspection of high-quality components and assemblies used in medical devices. This role will support the multiple pieces of semi-automated and automated equipment, including but not limited to, CMM, Micro-Vu, Vision Systems, and other precision measurement tools. The core responsibilities of this role are being able to do complex inspections, including first article inspections and supporting engineering team to improve inspection process. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned. Uses predetermined methods, operations, setups and prescribed specifications to inspect visually in-process and completed products such as electronic units and subsystems, precision electromechanical assemblies or mechanical units, subassemblies, structural flaws, internal defects, and missing welds. Uses various measuring devices and testing equipment. Accepts, rejects, or reworks defective or malfunctioning units or systems. Works from blueprints, diagrams, dial indicators, preset micrometers, scales, fixtures, customer specifications, drawing or inspection instructions and checklists. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Performs line clearances after each lot to ensure all materials from the previous lot have been removed. Perform complex dimensional inspections using CMM, Micro-Vu, Vision Systems, and other precision measurement tools. Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles accurately. Operate and troubleshoot programmable inspection equipment to ensure accurate and repeatable results. Assist in developing and improving inspection programs for CMM and vision systems such as Micro-Vu, Keyence, (programming experience is a plus). Maintain calibration and proper setup of inspection equipment. Support engineering team for root cause analysis and corrective action activities as needed. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior inspectors when needed. Must Have: Minimum Requirements Requires minimum of 8 years of experience and may require vocational or technical education or certification in addition to prior work experience. May require vocational training and/or certification. High School Diploma or GED Nice to Have Hands-on experience operating programmable inspection equipment such as CMM, Micro-Vu, Keyence. Ability to read and understand blueprints/schematics Strong working knowledge of GD&T and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Experience with high-accuracy dimensional inspection in a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in using precision measurement instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges). Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across teams. Production Support Career Stream: Provides support in manufacturing operations and/or distribution centers including assembly, machinery, processing, packaging, and/or distribution of company products. May set up and operate automatic or semiautomatic machines and related equipment in a continuous production/processing operation. Reports any malfunctions or abnormalities in machines, with higher levels recommending and/or making adjustments to methods and processes. May be involved in shipping, receiving, inventory control, or storage of products in distribution centers. Differentiating Factors Autonomy: Works on assignments that are complex in nature. Trains, delegates and reviews the work of lower level employees and may be responsible for leading daily operations of a work team. Performs a variety of complex or technical-advanced clerical duties in distribution center. Organizational Impact: Often acts as a facilitator and team leader in manufacturing/production operations or distribution center. Work may include complex and complicated activities related to special assignments, and providing instructions to accomplish day-to-day activities to junior individuals in the department. Innovation and Complexity: Problems faced are general and may require understanding of other job areas but typically are not complex. May be responsible for working with supervisor to identify potential adjustments or enhancements in systems and processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness of job area. Communication and Influence: Communicates typically with internal and external contacts, as needed. Obtains and provides information on matters of significant importance to the job area. Leadership and Talent Management: May act as a team lead and assistant to the supervisor/manager. May delegate tasks to other team members and be responsible for the review of work product. Does not have formal management responsibilities, but may provide input to management in this area. Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires advanced knowledge within a specific discipline typically gained through broad work experience and/or education. Requires minimum of 8 years of experience and may require vocational or technical education or certification in addition to prior work experience. May require vocational training and/or certification. For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required. Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD): $57,600.00 - $86,400.00. This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Operations Incentive Plan (OIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
