# DevOps Software Engineer
About the Role:
Base-2 Solutions is seeking a TS/SCI-cleared DevOps Software Engineer to build and deploy a full-stack, containerized technology platform supporting DOMEX data discovery modernization and the centralization and standardization of OSINT tasking, collection, processing, exploitation, and dissemination across the Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community. The role focuses on production big data pipelines, Kubernetes infrastructure, CI/CD automation, scalable infrastructure, and DevOps engineering. The position is primarily performed onsite in Bethesda, Maryland, with occasional remote work permitted for some tasks. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with systems engineers, developers, security, operations, architecture, and integration teams in a cross-functional Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy, triage, and maintain a production big data pipeline built on Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, and Kafka.* Enhance and maintain CI/CD pipelines and DevOps automation to accelerate development and improve reliability.* Design and support scalable, redundant infrastructure across physical and virtual environments.* Use Helm to configure Kubernetes deployments for new features and evolving requirements.* Partner with Systems Engineers to architect solutions for new capabilities.* Contribute technical input to engineering documentation, diagrams, and models.* Participate in Agile release planning, scrums, design sessions, bug triage, and related team activities.* Collaborate with developers, software integrators, system administrators, systems engineering, architecture, development, security, operations, and integration teams.
Required Qualifications:
- Relevant experience meeting an applicable education and experience pathway outlined in the equivalency requirements.* Strong Linux proficiency, including knowledge of sysctls for Kubernetes environments.* Experience with FApolicyd and SELinux.* Hands-on experience with containers and Kubernetes.* Experience with Kubernetes technologies and configurations including: * Ingress/Gateway API * Helm chart design and build * Pod disruption budgets * Affinity and anti-affinity rules * External Secrets * ArgoCD * Cert-manager * ECK (Elasticsearch)* Experience with GitLab pipeline development, including integration of GitLab CI/CD components, code quality reports, coverage reports, and test reports.* Familiarity with Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana.* Demonstrated success working in cross-functional engineering environments.* Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance.* At least one DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II or higher certification, such as CCNA Security, CySA+, Security+ CE, SSCP, or CISSP (or Associate).* Ability to obtain Privileged User Account (PUA) certification in accordance with DoD 8570 policy.

- Experience working with systems at scale.* Experience or knowledge of Agile processes and techniques.* Experience developing with Bash, PowerShell, SALT, Python, Groovy, or Java.* Experience supporting enterprise or production systems.* Experience with Kafka or other message-passing systems, including AMQP and JMS.* Experience with Kubernetes monitoring using Prometheus and Grafana.* Experience with GPU-based Kubernetes.* Experience with SALT for deployment automation.* Experience with Nexus.

Education & Experience:
Education and Experience Equivalency:* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field with 8+ years of relevant experience.* Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field with 6+ years of relevant experience.* Equivalent relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.Certifications:* At least one DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II or higher certification, including CCNA Security, CySA+, Security+ CE, SSCP, or CISSP (or Associate).* Ability to obtain PUA certification per DoD 8570 policy.
