Field Engineer - IDOT Projects

Job Description Position OverviewTower Engineering Group, LLC is looking for a Construction Inspector to support construction engineering and inspection services for IDOT in District 2, IL for a 3-6 month milling and resurfacing project. This position will assist IDOT and/or consultant Resident Engineers with field inspection, documentation, and coordination of activities during this Phase III construction project.The role is primarily field-based during the construction season and may include variable hours, including overtime, based on project needs.Key ResponsibilitiesMonitor and document construction activities to ensure compliance with IDOT specifications and plans.Conduct field inspections, prepare daily reports, and maintain project documentation.Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and IDOT personnel to resolve field issues.Review and interpret engineering plans and shop drawings.Assist in quantity calculations, pay estimates, and change orders.Maintain accurate field records and uphold quality control and safety standards.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field (preferred, not required with extensive experience).IDOT Documentation of Contract QuantitiesMinimum 1–3 years of field engineering experience, preferably with IDOTStrong knowledge of IDOT specifications, manuals, and construction documentation practices.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and field data collection tools.Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites within Illinois.Preferred CertificationsIDOT PCC and HMA Level I/IIOSHA 10/30-Hour Construction SafetyWhat We OfferCompetitive salary and benefits package - **OT hours available **Career development and training opportunitiesSupportive and collaborative team environmentOpportunities to work on high-impact projectsCompany DescriptionTower Engineering Group, LLC (TEG) is an Engineering consulting firm incorporated in 2019, to fulfill the need of professional services in the field of engineering, inspections, and construction and project management in the state of Illinois.Company DescriptionTower Engineering Group, LLC (TEG) is an Engineering consulting firm incorporated in 2019, to fulfill the need of professional services in the field of engineering, inspections, and construction and project management in the state of Illinois.
