Stepdown Nurse (RN) - Arnold, MO

A nursing role is available on a cardiac stepdown unit, providing specialized care for post-operative and cardiac patients. This contract position offers the opportunity to apply focused clinical skills within a collaborative inpatient environment. The assignment length is 13 weeks, with weekends required every other weekend and night shift hours from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.Responsibilities:Deliver direct patient care following nursing processes including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes and ensure comfort.Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold patient rights.Manage complex patient needs related to post-op CABG/valve procedures, thoracotomies, respiratory failure, and chest pain.Respond to changing patient conditions and float as needed to similar or lower acuity units.Adhere to hospital policies, mission, values, and service standards.Qualifications and Experience:Current RN license eligible or active in Missouri.Minimum 1 year experience in Cardiac Stepdown inpatient care.BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association required; NIHSS preferred.Proficiency with chest tubes, temporary pacemakers, Bipap machines, and EPIC EMR.Strong teamwork and positive culture promotion skills.Schedule and Workload:Night shift: 1900 - 0730Weekly guaranteed hours: 36 or 48 (to be indicated on submission)Weekend shifts every other weekend, no call required.Location Highlights: Situated near St. Louis, this area provides a rich blend of urban culture and historic charm.
