About the job Surface/Pattern Designer The Surface / Pattern Designer is responsible for creating original surface artwork, textile prints, repeat patterns, and visual concepts for products across apparel, home décor, consumer goods, packaging, and related product categories. This role develops trend-driven designs while ensuring alignment with brand identity, product strategies, and market demands.The Surface / Pattern Designer collaborates with creative teams, product developers, merchandising teams, and manufacturers to deliver high-quality print and pattern collections in a fully remote environment.This is a fully remote position; however, applicants must currently reside in the United States and be legally authorized to work in the United States. Applications from individuals residing outside the United States will not be considered.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Creative DevelopmentCreate original surface designs, textile prints, illustrations, and repeat patterns for products and collectionsDevelop seasonal collections aligned with market trends and brand directionProduce artwork suitable for digital and print production processesCreate colorways, pattern variations, and repeat layoutsTrend Research & Product DevelopmentConduct market research on trends, colors, consumer preferences, and competitive productsTranslate trend insights into commercially viable design conceptsCollaborate with product development teams on product specifications and executionSupport concept development from ideation through productionProduction & Technical PreparationPrepare production-ready artwork and files for manufacturing partnersEnsure technical accuracy for print repeats, color separations, and formatting requirementsMaintain organized asset libraries and design documentationSupport revisions and quality reviews during production cyclesCollaboration & Brand AlignmentWork closely with merchandising, marketing, and product teamsEnsure consistency with brand standards and creative directionParticipate in design reviews and product launch planningRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Textile Design, Surface Design, Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or related field preferred3-6 years of experience in surface design, textile design, print design, or pattern developmentStrong portfolio demonstrating surface design and repeat pattern workExcellent illustration, composition, and color development skillsKnowledge of production processes and print preparation standardsStrong creative thinking and attention to detailAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlinesAbility to work independently in a remote environmentPreferred QualificationsExperience with design software including Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Creative CloudFamiliarity with textile and repeat design workflowsExperience in apparel, home goods, consumer products, stationery, or licensing industriesHand illustration, watercolor, digital painting, or mixed media experience preferredKnowledge of print production and manufacturing specificationsCompensationAnnual Salary Range: $70,000 - $100,000 USD, depending on experience, portfolio quality, and industry specializationEstimated Hourly Equivalent: $34 - $48 per hourAdditional compensation may include:Performance bonusesProduct launch incentivesProfit-sharing opportunitiesBenefitsEligible employees may receive:Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) retirement plan with employer matchingPaid time off (PTO), vacation, holidays, and sick leaveLife insurance and disability coverageFlexible remote work environmentProfessional development opportunitiesTechnology and home office support stipendEmployee wellness and assistance programsWork Authorization RequirementApplicants must meet all of the following requirements:Must currently reside in the United StatesMust be legally authorized to work in the United StatesApplications from individuals residing outside the United States will not be considered
