Forklift Operator
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Forklift Operator to join our dynamic warehouse team. In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently operating various types of material handling equipment, including forklifts, reach trucks, and pallet jacks, to facilitate the safe and accurate movement of goods within the warehouse. Your expertise will ensure smooth warehouse operations, proper inventory management, and adherence to safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
Responsibilities
Operate forklifts, reach trucks, Hi-Lo lifts, clamp trucks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently to load, unload, and transport goods.
Perform order picking using barcode scanning systems and manual methods to fulfill shipping and inventory requirements.
Load and unload shipments accurately while adhering to safety protocols and weight limits.
Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance or repairs on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Assist with inventory management tasks such as stock counts, cycle counts, and updating warehouse management systems.
Support shipping and receiving processes by verifying incoming and outgoing shipments against documentation.
Follow OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards and warehouse safety protocols consistently.
Handle materials with manual handling techniques, including heavy lifting when necessary.
Use barcode scanners for logistics tracking and ensure proper documentation of all movements.
Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to optimize storage layouts and improve overall warehouse distribution efficiency.
Skills
Proven experience operating forklifts, reach trucks, Hi-Lo lifts, clamp trucks, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control procedures.
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic repairs on equipment.
Familiarity with safety standards in production environments such as OSHA regulations.
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining proper manual handling techniques.
Basic math skills for counting, measuring, and verifying quantities accurately.
Experience in shipping & receiving operations along with order picking processes.
Knowledge of barcode scanning technology used in logistics workflows.
Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members and supervisors.
Understanding of warehouse operations including distribution processes and materials handling best practices.
