About the Opportunity – Interim Finance & Accounting Manager A third-party recruiting firm is partnering with a client in the building materials and construction space to identify an experienced Interim Director of Finance for a fully onsite, temporary assignment. This role will provide hands-on financial leadership during a transitional period, supporting both accounting operations and strategic decision-making. The assignment is expected to last approximately 2–4 months, with a projected start in early June.
Key Responsibilities – Interim Finance & Accounting Manager
Provide interim leadership and oversight for a small accounting and finance team
Lead and participate in month-end close, including journal entries and financial reporting
Oversee AP/AR review and cash forecasting activities
Conduct inventory adjustments and ensure accurate P&L reporting
Extract data from SAP and develop Excel-based financial models and analyses
Supervise two direct reports (Assistant Controller and AP Specialist)
Oversee financial operations including accounting, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
Quickly assess current financial processes and implement stabilization and improvement plans
Partner closely with senior operations leadership on financial strategy and operational decisions
Support manufacturing finance activities, including cost accounting and operational analysis
Ensure compliance with internal controls and standard accounting practices
Maintain accurate and timely financial reporting within SAP
Qualifications – Interim Finance & Accounting Manager
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
Prior experience serving as an Interim Director of Finance and/or CFO
Building materials, construction, or manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred
Hands-on SAP experience required; advanced Excel skills essential
Proven ability to assess, stabilize, and lead finance functions during transitional periods
Operational, roll-up-your-sleeves leadership style
Experience working in small to mid-sized business environments
Ability to work fully onsite and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams
